UBb BIO
Used Blues, hailing from Gainesville Florida, is a four-man group focused on performing the best of all forms of Blues music. With a wide repertoire of cover songs, our originals span multiple forms as well. Not only does Used Blues focus on the music, but the performance as well. We consider ourselves to be performers as well as musicians and believe that audience participation is an essential ingredient for a great show.
Formed in 2002 as the brainchild of bassist and front man Butch Wise, and as the name suggests, the original intent of Used Blues was to be a cover band for the many excellent blues songs that already exists but with a twist. As quoted by the Gainesville Sun “Used Blues, at every turn, makes a song their very own”. However, as time past and the ideas began to flow so have the original songs. With the diverse background of the members the original songs from each individual has a distinct sound derived from those backgrounds.
UBb’s powerful lineup of Butch Wise (bass/vocals), Alan Yeatter (guitar/vocals), Gus Olmos (harmonica/dobro) and Rick Wagner (drums/vocals) provides for a very dynamic performance. As quoted by one board member of the North Central Florida Blues Society “UBb is the driving force of the blues in North Florida”. Not only do we promote the Blues on stage but in our personal lives as well. We are all active in local Blues Society activities and with other Blues and non-blues musicians. Doing our part in “Keeping The Blues Alive”.
UBb has shared the stage with the likes of Bo Diddley, Joe Kubek & B’nois King, Eddie Kirkland, Eric Sardinas, Mem Shannon, JW Gilmore, Roger "Hurricane" Willson, and many others as either opening acts or at events such as the 2008 International Blues Challenge, the Gainesville Downtown Blues Festival, BMS Music Festival and the NCFBS Concert Series. With many festivals and events under our belts we anxiously look forward to performing at many more, such as yours.
