About U.S. Mail Band

I first saw the U.S. Mail Band in a field somewhere in the hills outside St. Charles. I think there were just two of them, or maybe three, it was hard to tell because I was juiced up on single malt and some chick with carnations on her skirt was dancing all over my cigarettes. Anyway, they played songs that reminded me of three things: my grandad’s porch, the time I saw Jerry Garcia jamming backstage with Levon Helm, and how goddamn disappointed I was that I didn’t have a brick of hash in my pocket. If you’ve ever driven five hundred miles across the Colorado plains with nothing but a cassette and a postcard from a senorita who truly loves her mother, you might not have a clue what these guys are singing about.
