The Utah Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is currently revising six separate Resource Management Plans (RMPs) affecting nearly 11 million acres of public land throughout the state. Much like city zoning plans that identify which areas are appropriate for industrial use and which should be set aside for city parks, these RMPs will determine how the BLM manages our public lands—including 5 million acres of proposed wilderness—for decades to come. Public participation is essential to ensuring that areas worthy of protection are not sacrificed for industrial use or left vulnerable to careless degradation. At stake are some of the state’s most stunning landscapes—places like Desolation Canyon, the Book Cliffs, Fisher Towers, the San Rafael Swell, Parunuweap Canyon, Indian Creek, and many more.
Please visit Southern Utah Wildnerness Alliance's Take Action page to add your comments to the proposed plan but hurry comment periods end 1/10 for some districts. http://www.suwa.org ***please visit our page for other action alerts***
