Promoting academic excellence, professional guidance, community & political engagement, and social support for students of the African Diaspora at UT and the Austin Community
About me: The Black Graduate Student Association (BGSA) is dedicated to improving the quality of graduate and professional student life at the University of Texas at Austin. The BGSA' s mission is to promote academic excellence, mentoring, professional guidance, and social support for scholarly advancement of undergraduate students, graduate students, and other members of the University of Texas community of African descent. The BGSA' s purpose is to develop opportunities for leadership by disseminating information to undergraduate and graduate students of African descent pertaining to academic, financial, and social needs.
The BGSA holds monthly meetings to discuss several topics, which include, but are not limited to, political action and community engagement issues, professional development, and social activies. The BGSA also works diligently to establish and maintain liaisons with faculty, staff, student organizations, and the community at large. The meetings are open to everyone, but are specifically geared towards people of African descent.
Who I'd like to meet: Graduate Students at the University of Texas that are of the African Diaspora.
