About Under the Radar Festival

UNDER THE RADAR is a look at new theater on shuffle mode - examples from around the world and the U.S. that spotlight artists ranging from emerging talents to masters in the field. The festival is a wild mix of works by ensembles, solo artists, writers, and creators. UNDER THE RADAR will offer a crash course in theater that is exciting, independent, and experimental, created by some of the most dynamic artists working today. The annual festival is curated by Mark Russell. He is an independent producer/curator working in New York City. He is also the guest Artistic Director for the Portland (Oregon) Institute of Contemporary Art Time Based Arts Festival for 2006, 2007. From 1983 - 2004, Russell was the Executive Artistic Director of Performance Space 122 (P.S. 122). Mark Russell is "a genius at finding the awkward new stuff, the gems and diamonds no one's noticed yet." - Eric Bogosian "No matter where Mark Russell is, always 10 minutes ahead of the curve, which is the right place to be. When he says to see something I always go."- Melanie Joseph, producing artistic director of the Foundry.

Cheers, Sara Artist Opportunity/Call For Submissions: 2008 Berkshire Fringe Seeks Dynamic New Works for the Stage Bazaar Productions has announced the release of open applications to the fourth annual Berkshire Fringe. Over the last three years, the festival has hosted more than 100 performers and presented three-dozen new works that have blended genres, represented new styles, and delved into traditions underrepresented in the mainstream. We are dedicated to supporting the work of emerging artists. The 2008 Festival will feature 21 days of dynamic new works of theater, dance and multi-media performances by diverse artists from across the United States and right here at home. The 2008 Berkshire Fringe will take place during July and August. Six companies or individuals will participate.
