About Under the Radar (looking 4 a new bass player)
Formed in 2005, this power trio combines clever originals, imaginative covers and unique interpretations of rock and roll classics with powerhouse drumming, melodic bass lines and intense yet tasteful guitar work.
To the Ancients
"three" was the number of the whole with a beginning, middle and an end. Strangely enough this elder mystical philosophical concept fits something as prosaic the modern rock band. Entropy tends to get the best of us as things lose their momentum, whether man's grand endeavors, or the stars spinning down to black holes in a dying galaxy. And so we find ourselves, no matter how good or pure our artistic intentions, cycling to an end.
Optimists tell us as one door closes, another opens. Maybe. Maybe not.
Same way with bands. They come, they go like some sort of musical mendeleevian isotope, they never seem quite stable enough to be with us for very long, members flying off into other orbits like radioactive cesium on a nuclear Saturday night.
But like Schliemann discovered peeling back the layers at Troy, sometimes the new uses the buried past for its foundation. And upon that foundation, both literal and metaphysical, something new and, dare we say it, interesting, may result.
And then there were three. Fresh from the Gotterdammerung of one band, plunging headlong into the musical terra incognito of another one.
Under the radar. A slang term for a sneak attack, something totally unexpected. Maybe even by those involved. Escape velocity may be reached. Entropy may be vanquished. Joy may be established. Three. Beginning, middle, end. A new Beginning. No one saw it coming.

CLASSIC ROCK doesn't have to be the same old retread Led Zeppelin/Van Halen/ "SKYNNARDDDD!!!"/Pink Floyd radio crap. Played by bald, fat, DJs with long gray hair that want to tell you what happened to them at Woodstock.
Nor does a great song have to be played note-for-note like the record.
So where does that leave us?
"Under the Radar" would prefer to say that it plays songs, but that's a little hard to get ahold of. So it uneasily wears the mantle of "classic rock". But in the meantime sees being squeezed into a category as more of a challenge, a point of departure. And the Acoustic rock schizophrenia - an excuse to strip great SONGS down to their very essence and rebuild them into something new.
So, like a modern hot rod bears a passing resemblance to the "classic" Ford Model A it was constructed upon, so "Under the Radar" uses rock songs we all know and love and puts a new spin on them. And throw in some originals that might just be classics someday.

Quick! Get our autographs now, before we sell out to the major record labels and use our songs on commercials for cleaning products and tobacco ads!
And, even as products of the WV school system, we CAN write our own names, roadies DO NOT sign for us... (Ha! We're too poor to have roadies, so there, another rock and roll myth laid low...)
