Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Visalia
Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Visalia Love is the doctrine of this church. The quest for truth is it's sacrament, service is it's prayer. To seek knowledge in freedom. To serve to human need to the end that all souls should grow together with the divine. Thus do we covenant with each other.

GeneralYou are invited to bring both your doubts and your bedrock beliefs here. We promise neither easy answers nor will we ask you to adopt a creed. Instead, we are a faith which encourages you to develop your own personal theology, and to present openly your religious opinions without fear of censure or reprisal. Instead of saying "we have the Only Truth," we say: "All religions, in every age and culture, possess not only an intrinsic merit, but also a potential value for those who have learned the art of listening." Our religious community requires us only to listen to each other. The validation of experience requires the confirmation of peers, who provide a critical platform along with a network of mutual support. Whether temporarily-abled or disabled; whatever your skin color, cultural background or nation of origin; whatever your political persuasion or day-to-day occupation, you are welcome here. Male or female, young or old, gay, lesbian, bisexual, or straight, you are welcome here. Theist, atheist or agnostic; Pantheist, Pagan, Jewish, Humanist, Christian or Buddhist, or just searching, whatever ways you name sacred things, you are welcome here, just as you are.

About me:
If you're searching for a religious home that is guided by a quest for truth and meaning, not by a set creed or dogma, we invite you to discover Unitarian Universalism. We are a caring, open–minded religious community that encourages you to seek your own spiritual path. Unitarian Universalist congregations are places where people gather to nurture their spirits and put their faith into action by helping to make our communities—and the world—a better place. We believe that a life of commitment to personal growth is a spiritual blessing. We promote spirituality "in the here and now" as our primary purpose. We offer discussion courses, small groups, weekly meditation, a library, an online bookstore for spiritual growth, and religious education for adults and children. Unitarian Universalists have a long history of social justice activity. We feel a responsibility as a religious community to stand up for people who are oppressed, to speak out for equality, and to safeguard the Earth. It is impossible to separate our faith from our work for social justice. .......................................................................................................... Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote 1.) The inherent worth and dignity of every person; 2.) Justice, equity and compassion in human relations; 3.) Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations; 4.) A free and responsible search for truth and meaning; 5.) The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large; 6.) The goal of world community with peace, liberty and justice for all; 7.) Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
Who I'd like to meet:
If you believe religion should be more than a narrow statement of faith; that it should have more than one answer; and that the mystery of creation is a primary source of spiritual inspiration, come explore with us! You are invited to our Fellowship worship services, held every Sunday evening at 5 PM. Services are followed by a light potluck dinner, to which guests are cordially invited. We meet in a beautiful tree-lined garden setting at the Visalia Friends Meeting House, just east of Visalia, adjacent to the Kaweah Oaks Preserve. ................................................................................................................................................. From Visalia, head east on Hwy 198 about 5 or 6 miles, take the Farmersville exit (Exit #111), cross over Hwy 198 to the north, turn right (east) on the frontage road, and proceed approximately one mile east to its end. In the grove of trees, you'll see signs for the Friends Meeting House and Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Visalia. Look in our photos section for a map!

Attention No On 8 Warriors,

We had an amazing rally in Visalia Oct. 15th. Over 120 people showed up and more drove by honking and cheering to support a NO vote on Prop 8. It was a very positive atmosphere and we had a great time.

Members of Marriage Equality USA (MEUSA), and Porterville LGBTQ, will be combining forces again with Tulare/Kings County PFLAG, ACT For Women And Girls, Queer Visalia, and Gay Visalia to show our opposition to Prop 8.

Join the Movement!! If you were there Oct. 15th, bring your No On 8 gear and join us again. If you were unable to make it last time, Don’t Miss This One, we need you! Wave a sign, sport your rainbow flags, meet some new friends. Even if you can only stop by for a minute you are welcome and appreciated. Tell everyone you know and invite them too.

Date: Wednesday, October 29th
Time: 5pm-7pm
Location: Walnut & Mooney (Grassy area next to In & Out Burger)
Visalia, CA

If you are planning to make a sign, poster paint and a sponge brush, or a bingo dobber work great for making big letters. Must be short and to the point so people can read them while driving by. Please no cursing. The No On 8 Campaign has also asked that we don’t use the word “hate” in our signs because it is controversial to undecided voters.

Remember this is a peaceful protest. Please do not engage in arguments with our opposition.

LGBTQ Action Alert: No On Prop 8 Rally in Visalia
To all supporters of LGBTQ rights who want to take action,

Members of Marriage Equality USA (MEUSA), Porterville LGBTQ, PFLAG, and ACT For Women And Girls will rally in Visalia to show their opposition to Prop. 8.

Prop 8 if passed by a yes vote will amend the State Constitution to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry. We are joining together because we believe the constitution should never be used to eliminate the rights of a group of citizens. We will be encouraging others to do what is right and Vote NO on Prop 8. The wheels of history have been turning forward; help stop Prop 8 from shifting us back into reverse!

PLEASE JOIN US!! Wave a sign, sport your rainbow flags, meet some new friends. Even if you can only stop by for a minute you are welcome and appreciated. Tell everyone you know and invite them too.

If you are unable to attend visit www. noonprop8. com or www. marriageequaity. org for info on how you can help defeat prop 8.

Date: Wednesday, October 15th
Time: 5pm-7pm
Location: Mooney and Walnut (Union Bank corner)
Visalia, CA

I will have some No On 8 signs available, but if you can, please make one and bring it along. Poster paint and a sponge brush work great for making big letters. Must be short and to the point so people can read them while driving by. Please no cursing.

Some ideas for signs:
No On Hate, No on 8; Don't Discriminate, Vote No On 8; Another Straight Against Prop 8. Not from Tulare County? Another Valley Resident Voting No on Prop 8

Remember this is a peaceful protest. Please do not engage in arguments with our opposition. That would only make us look bad, and that's what they want.
