"UU World" is the quarterly magazine of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations. Its online companion, "uuworld.org: liberal religion and life," is published weekly.
The UUA publishes "UU World" for its member congregations, which provide free subscriptions as a benefit to their voting members. "uuworld.org" is published as a service to the general public and is available to everyone.
The magazine descends from a long line of Unitarian and Universalist publications going back almost two centuries: "Universalist Magazine" was founded in 1819 and the Unitarian "Christian Register" is 1821.
Its mission is to help its readers build their faith and act on it more effectively in their personal lives, their congregations, their communities, and the world. To this end, it strives to be not only informative but also useful, provocative, and even prophetic.
Thank UU for my birthday greeting! As I blow out the candles, this year, I'll definitely be remembering the UU principles in all my thoughts. May all our wishes for peace come true in 2007... and beyond!
2007!!!!Children's School sits under Coal Treatment Plant, What would Jesus do ?
Marsh Fork Elementary School in WV, sits just 225 feet from a coal loading silo that releases chemical-laden coal dust and 400 yards from a 385 foot tall leaking sludge dam with a nearly 3 billion gallon capacity. An independent study has shown the school to be full of coal dust.
If you have never heard of Marsh Fork Elementary School in WV, watch this. Ed Wiley, grandfather to a pupil,(she has since graduated), talks about the need to build a new school.Last year Ed walked from WV to Washington DC, to raise awareness about the issue.

HI, great site. I wish there was a UU World in Madison, Indiana! Closest UU is the Thomas Jefferson Unitarian Church in Louisville, KY. from here, an hour away. Keep up the good work. I used to live in Indiana PA and belonged to the First Unitarian Universalist Church there. WONDERFUL group of people; but, UU is where I always meet the most wonderful people not just praying, but DOING. Happy New Year to everyone everywhere! Pax.
