Influences
Mahavishnu Orchestra, Camel, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Klaus Schulze, Brian Eno, Tangerine Dream (I have always been heavily into ambience and experimental dream-scaping which continues to this day and the one's listed were an early example of this), Nektar, Colosseum and Gong and many more. I was initially influenced by the works and styles of Andy Latimer, Neil Young, Dave Gilmour, Steve Hillage, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Fripp, Pat Metheny, Allan Holdsworth, John McLaughlin, CSN, Neil Young, Jeff Beck, Frank Zappa, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jeff Buckley...I also appreciate the playing of such luminaries as Dave Kilminster, Guthrie Govan, Mike Keneally, Buddy Whittington, Carl Verheyen, Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, Mike Stern and Eric Johnson....and of course not forgetting the genius of Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Richard Wagner, Franz Lizst, Gustav Mahler, Franz Schubert and of course many others.
Born in West-Berlin. My father used to play the guitar in the army. After an initial workout on a harmonica which my parents immediately discouraged, i started to play on my fathers guitar by the time I was ten years old. I tried to play some Beatles and Rolling Stones tunes and some strange music by an early Pink Floyd, which I heard on the radio. Since Berlin was occupied in those days, I was exposed to a lot of American music and also to Radio Luxemburg.
I formed an experimental band called 'Detonation' at the age of 14. By that time I had heard of the name 'Nektar', a German Progressive band, and tried my hardest to copy them, which proved to be almost impossible. I guess my musical knowhow was at that time seriously limited. We gigged in youth clubs and went down quite well considering our tender years. In those days I went from one band to another. Band names changed like the weather! Those were the early 70's. In those days I discovered bands like Camel, Manfred Mann, Genesis and Yes, and they were my formative influences.
I was also heavily influenced by keyboard orientated artists like Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream. I have always loved atmospheric soundscapes/chillout and still do, (though these day's i tend to listen to the likes of Biosphere, Pete Namlook, Steve Roach, Tetsu inoue, Ajad, Numina, Zoviet France, John Foxx, Cliff martinez, Robert Rich and Amethystium and their contemporaries. I've got quite an exhaustive list of Ambient artists i listen to on a regular basis.)
In the late 70's I moved to England. I formed a band called 'Relay' in 1980. We put out a single called 'In Release' and gigged extensively. After Relay's demise i gigged around the country with various outfits. In the late eighties I joined Quasar and again gigged the UK extensively. I helped form Landmarq way back when, and have played /recorded with a variety of artist's like Kooch (Cyrus Khajavi, 'Worldmusic'), John Wetton (King Crimson, Asia), Pete Gee (Pendragon), Elevation (Thomas Dolby, Jah Wobble), Hugh Lloyd Langton (Hawkwind), Brian Willoughby (Strawbs), Hugh McDowell
(ELO), Jazz singer Sue McCreeth, Clive Nolan (Strangers on a Train, Arena), Bob Daisley (Bridges), Laurent Hunziker (saxophone with Supertramp)...and many more.
I supported artists like Marillion, Focus, Suzi Quatro, Greenslade, IQ, Jadis, Arena, Ken Hensley, Threshold and a myriad of other Progressive Rock outfits.

Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.
