Members of Uwharria have played together in bands together for
15 years, but Uwharria started in 1999 as a group of environmental
activists who wanted to create a musical extension of that activism.
All songs are a glorification of nature- skunks, woodpeckers, sea
turtles, dung beetles, being devoured by a jaguar, etc. 8 days after
forming, the band had written 7 songs, played their first show, and
recorded a demo. The full-length "Fury in the Foothills" was recorded
in January 2002, and released on Slave Audio Documents the following
year. A 9 song live Uwharria CD came free with Slave Magazine 8 in
May 2003.
We haven't played a show since 2004- or was it 2005? Don't count on one anytime soon. Drummer in Finland. Guitarist in California. Rest in different parts of North Carolina.
