The Friends of Virginia Beach Animal Control was founded by caring and concerned citizens of Virginia Beach to help the animals, and the staff, at the city’s municipal animal facility. Each year thousands of healthy adoptable animals find their way to the shelter. Some animals are picked up as strays, some are removed from their existing environments due to abuse, and some are simply turned in by their owners who no longer want to care for them. Our group is dedicated to helping these animals and educating the public.

Yeah, he is a great dog. He is starting to wag his tail and act more like a real dog now. I'm not sure if the vet will help or not. I still have to talk to them more. But thanks anyways!
Hi. I just adopted a dog from Virginia Beach Animal Control two days ago. He is a bluetick coonhound. He was in kennel 50. He is very emaciated and I am trying to nurse him back to health. He has giardia, kennel cough, and has tested positive for Heartworms. I am not sure how I am going to pay for the treatment but he is worth it. Do you know of any organizations that help pay for treatments like that?
Hello, thank you for sending us a request. We greatly appreciate your support for animal rights. This profile has been setup to help educate people on what animal cruelty is and what counts as animal cruelty. Sadly, many people do not truly understand the facts about animal cruelty and are unable to recognize when an animal is being abused and therefore, the crime goes unreported. We are hoping to change that. We post bulletins with information about animal cruelty and ways people can help prevent it. Some of the information we show does contain graphic material and we do apologize for that at this moment. It is not our intention to offend or frighten anyone, only to show why animal cruelty must be stopped before it is too late and another innocent life is lost. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us. Thank you again for supporting animal rights.
