Remember your favorite 80's movie, when the two rival groups have a car wash contest, and whoever wins gets to keep the hotel, and the good guys win, even after the bad guys use trickery, and then the guy gets the girl, and the nerd gets the model, and everyone gets together, and there's a high-five that freezes on the screen? we're the song that plays over the credits
After many years battling with addictions to smoking, alcohol, and drugs, which added to his already chaotic life-style due to excessive touring, he now resides in Los Angeles with his wife, Monica, whom he married on August 8th, 2005.
Skiba cites Joey Ramone and Social Distortion as huge influences.
In 2005, Skiba told Guitar World magazine that he is a card-carrying member of the Church Of Satan.
In the same interview he clarified that he is an atheist, and the reason behind the membership was the ability to "pull out the card and watch people squirm" Matt Skiba is a vegan att Skiba is the lead singer of Alkaline Trio. He has previously been a member of various bands including Jerkwater, Blunt, and The Traitors. In 2002, Skiba recorded a split EP with Kevin Seconds called Split.
For five years THE TRAITORS left a trail of black eyes, chipped teeth, broken equipment and eventually earned the title of "most hated band in Chicago". Having reached this point (and banned from almost every club in a 200 mile radius) they did what all great bands do- they imploded before they sucked. Included here for the first time is the "lost" album featuring the original lineup: Matt Skiba (THE ALKALINE TRIO) on drums, Todd Pot (APOCALYPSE HOBOKEN) on Vocals, Marc Ruvolo (NO EMPATHY) on Guitar and Francisco (NOSTRILSAURUS) on Bass. SHOT BAKER / VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: Vindictive Tribute Split: 7” The Vindictives are perhaps the most under-appreciated of all 1990s pop punk bands. So, imagine my delight upon receiving this Vindictives tribute record! The problem with this sort of thing is that it just makes me want to put on a Vindictives record instead! Plus Joey Vindictive & Co. have got to be one of the hardest bands to cover—crazy Muppet-ish vocals, over-the-top energy and craziness, ack! I’ve heard Shot Baker are a decent band, but their covers of “Future Homemakers of America” and “Glad to Be” lack the insanity of the originals. Vacation Bible School cover “Assembly Line” and “Automatic,” and get a little bit more of the Vindictives craziness, and rock, um, a little harder. That said, if I ever heard either of these bands (or, really, almost any other punk band) playing a Vindictives song at a show, I’d be jumping around like crazy! And I wholeheartedly salute the production of anything in homage to one of the best bands of all time! If this were a cereal, it’d be the revival (about ten years ago?) of Quisp, one of most amazing cereals ever! –Maddy (Underground Communiqué)
