.. Started in 2004 by DJs Nelson Dilation and Spindrift, Le Vagabond Boogaloo Club celebrates a unique mix of gypsy licks and latin kicks! From the elegant sway of gypsy swing and nu-fangled tango, thru flamenco beats, ska, cumbias and mexican hip hop, to floor-shakin, roots-driven balkan breaks and latino funk - 'drinkin dancin fightin lovin crying music' for the 21st century !
Our clubnights are now a regular feature at Barden's Boudoir, London N16, a cozy underground venue that holds up to 250 people, where we host the second friday night of every month. Great sound, fantastic bands, drinking and dancing til 2am...what better way to spend an evening !
Former jive champion Nelson Dilation was one of the ground breaking resident DJs at Talvin Singhs legendary Anokha club in Hoxton, playing his unique brand of dubxotic ethnofunkadelia years ahead of the cats who trod his path. His mighty rock and roll leanings framed his influences towards the fun, funked up orientation of Bollywood, exotica, lounge, Asian and Arabic world grooves. After years of producing and re-mixing the likes of Transglobal Underground, Earth Tribe and Xangbetos he formed Kamel Nitrate, 2003 World Music Audience Award nominees.
DJ Spindrifts first foray into DJing was completely by default in a giant tipi at the Beach Festival in Cornwall. When the crowds danced on and on until dawn he realized he had quite the knack & never looked back, and has since played clubs and festivals around the UK and Europe. Also a renowned garden landscaper, he injects this same creative zest and sense of sweep into his DJing terrain. His orientation towards the good latin groove, tango, East European & gypsy music provide the perfect complement to Nelson.
Together they started 'Global Headfunk' at London's Herbal, before mutating and evolving. Le Vagabond Boogaloo Club became the new exuberant offspring of these wayward parents, which saw them hitting the festival circuit during 2005 - 2006 with shows at Larmer Tree Festival,Secret Garden Party, Off the Tracks, Thames Festival, The Electric Picnic in Ireland, La Linea in Portugal, and at Glastonbury including the Dance stage, the Glade and an all night gypsy music bonanza on the Continental Drifts stage. 2007 was a summer of (memorable!) festivals again, tho a first appearance at the excellent Bestival!
The event can appear in many forms from the eccentric, worldwide wonder of Spindrift and Nelson Dilations DJ sets, to full on club nights and festival stages including live appearances by the hottest bands, VJs, and dancers.
Since December 2008 we have teamed up with the London based charity the Roma Support Group - www.romasupportgroup.org.uk -(a community organisation working with East European Roma refugees and migrants since 1998)who will be represented at our nights to give out information on the work they do to help the people whose music we so enjoy. We will, through your support of the club, be able to contribute some funds to their cause, and provide a stage for musicians from the London Roma community to play on...

Thank goodness we will be opened on the 9th for the first edition of Swing Mon Amour so you'll have something nice to do on a tuesday night. It's very cheap (in terms of money not quality obviously), and you'll get great acts every week that will make you sweat and get plenty of excercice. I'm talking resident Dj El Nino from Black Cotton Club & Lady Luck, and Gentleman Tim & the Contenders a great 1950's swing R&B Chicago blues band. You'll dance all night, guaranted!
