The Vanities are an electro-pop duo based in Cardiff. The band was originally formed in the summer of 2001 by founder members Rhys Bradley and Adam Hill who were united by a strong desire to combine epic-three minute pop songs with fantastic riffs, beautiful melodies, soaring choruses and memorable lyrics, with a touch of glamour, drama, decadence and spectacle which they felt was much lacking on the local scene. The band made an immediate impression on the Cardiff circuit and it wasn't long until Boobytrap Records picked up on them and released their debut single Space Tourist. The exposure this gained paved the way for a very successful period, highlights of which included multiple spins from the late and great John Peel, an appearence at the official In The City A&R conference in Manchester, and a rather bizarre collaboration with Tony Hadley of Spandau Ballet fame! Since the band's genesis The Vanities have existed in many different incarnations and guises that have included numerous line-ups - one could say that they've been through a lot of ch-ch-ch-ch-changes! As result of this lack of stability and continuity, Rhys and Adam took the big decision at the end of 2005 to ditch the guitars, basses, and drums etc and at the beginning of this year the band marked their re-birth as an electro-pop duo with a hugely successful sell-out show at the Barfly in Cardiff. Drawing inspiration from key influences such as Bowie, Depeche Mode and Duran Duran etc the band write songs about love and hate; life and death; hope and despair; light and dark, and everything in-between. Their live shows have an almost religious quality and are an explosion of emotion, passion and drama. Having just recorded their first material as a duo the band are currently planning their debut release whilst also preparing to take their new show on the road. So look out all you electro boys and girls - the synth-pop circus that is The Vanities could be coming to your town in 2006!
Its been selling faster than we expected, and we currently only have around a quarter of our stock left - so we thought we'd better you all know that if you want a copy then now would be a good time to pick one up! If you buy it from the link above then you're buying it direct from us, the label aren't taking a cut - so its a bit like Fair Trade for struggling musicians.

Thank you very much, and sorry for making a mess of your profile. If its any kind of consolation, we don't have a MySpace bot, so I'm leaving these comments the old fashioned way. Three -and-a-half thousand of them. My life is so exciting.
Hi The Vanities, thanks for continuing to be a friend of Electroflex.
Some important news!
Electroflex have been back in the studio following a break from gigging and recording with new track ‘Computer Virus’.
This is the first of a series of new releases for 2009, and what better day to start on than Liz’s Birthday!
‘Computer Virus’ is a live favourite. Anyone forced to work with computers will know how evil they are and this track is Electroflex’s response to Kraftwerk’s ‘Its More Fun to Compute’. It is a bouncy number with a serious bassline, sing-along chorus and a selection of curious samples.
The track will only be up on Myspace in full for a short time. Alternatively, visit our Facebook and iLike pages where you can add the song to you playlists
This Sunday We're Playing as a part of the Next Step event raising money for Cancer Research. It all takes place at Revolution, Broad Street, Birmingham and doors open at 5pm.
