About me:

On the 28’th of october 1981. in the family of dalmatian fisherman and croat fairy, after daughter Mareta, another child was born. Opposite from my sister who was named after big waves I got my name after the small ones – short and simple Val. My childhood was spent in ancient, sunbathed, mediterranean city Zadar. Stormy nineties flew by. During that period i was in anarcho-punk scene, as a lead singer in punk band called Rasulo, and also I was an activist in Fortera squat. But after I got my first goa-trance audio mixed tape, which was given to me by my friend who was in the army, my interest for everything else fades. Seeing that I never liked pure consumerism, I soon got the urge for active partake in the scene. With great help of first dalmatian goa DJ Goran Parenta – Pare I slowly began to learn and play at Vashar parties and beach afterparties.

After my graduation in graphic design highschool I continued my education at Faculty of Political Science in the city Zagreb, and this is where things tend to get a little complicated. My first big party was Underwater Overground festival where I for the first time played under pseudonim Val Vashar, which I took in the honor of my friend Pare. Gigs are becoming more and more often. I play on SoundForms and Tribalizer parties, musical reading room ChilliBar, and radio show Teleport, which was by the way the only trance transmission in Croatia maintained by DJ Tomislav. Soon I joined UWOG team regarding festival organisation, where alongside Dovla I conducted Chill Out floor.

Today, besides web site Trancepleme associate, I work on many projects as ChilliBar nights, as promotor & resident of project Ministarstvo Psihodelije wich is party institution that takes place once a month at club Mocvara, and on Ministarstvo Psihodelije – kobayagi emisija o trance kulturi radio show. Ministarstvo's mission is to promote trance culture in city of Zagreb and all Croatia, and behind organization stands DJ Pipal, me and our friends.

Although I listen everything, from psy all the way to downbeat music, I mostly play progressive and chill out. At the moment my favourite labels are: Zenon, Cosmic Conspiracy Records, Bio-Sine, Horns & Hoofs, Iono Music, Electric Power Pole, Groove Zone, Exogenic, Domo and Crotus. As for artists I enjoy sounds of Frogacult, Sun Control Species, Moses, Sensient, Visua, The Cujorius One, Decoy, Beat Bizarre, Bigwigz, Bufo, Shadow FX and Tetrameth. From July '09 I became part of Zenon Records team, as a label DJ. As I said it's boy dreams coming true :) Only few months later I've joined Glitchy.Tonic.Net posse, helping with my DJ skills. Btw. Glitchy.Tonic is a platform for creators of trance music who want to break out of existing boundaries...

WHAT THE FUCK MEANS VASHAR?
The nearest english word which would illustrate this term is bazaar or fair. The word vashar was picked by Pare becaouse it reminded him of our city district called Varosh.
