   About The Vernacular
Vernacular Band at Hotshots Bar Glens Falls NY 04/03/09

Nirvana @ Savannah's

The Vernacular is an alternative rock cover band based in New York's Capital Region. The band is composed of Matt Lewis (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Jeff Garrison (lead guitar, backing vocals and keyboards), Steve Hamilton (rhythm guitar, backing vocals and keyboards), Matthew Bramer (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Dave Martone (drums, percussion).

The band formed in 2007 in Albany New York under the name Frieda Hammond. After a name change in early 2008 the band's lineup crystallized and has been working successfully in premiere venues throughout New York State. The band continues to impress fans and expand upon their already extensive and diverse repertoire of popular rock ranging from classic to modern alternative. The Vernacular's energy and quality performance is truly unparalleled. Recently they've raised the bar for bands in their genre by playing shows featuring 2 sets consisting of 25-30 songs, rather than the traditional 3 sets consisting of 12-15 songs with lengthy breaks where a loss of interest can occur.

The Vernacular continues to refresh their set lists by satisfying requests received from fans and by carefully watching trends in radio and other popular media.

Book the Vernacular for your venue today, contact us by telephone anytime @ 518.542.7789 or e-mail booking@albanyV.com

Also be sure to checkout our affiliated projects by clicking the images below.

Thank you,

-The Vernacular

Matt Lewis – Vocals

Matt has an extraordinary personality; he is professional, courteous, entertaining and just plain fun to be around. His vocals are blazing and always spot on in tune, toned, with the just the right energy for each thoughtful and inspired performance. He treats every audience and venue with respect and always has something positive to say about the staff, audience and venue during a performance.  He is a great entertainer, musician and friend to everyone that knows him. He’s very experienced and has had great success with many local musical projects. The Vernacular musicians consider themselves lucky to have someone like Matt Lewis to lead us through each night of fun memories we create!

Jeff Garrison – Guitarist

Jeff has a special vision about music and life; he is intelligent, kind, energetic, entertaining and thoughtful. His abilities as a musician and artist are limitless. His energy for each inspirational performance is unmatched by any other guitarist. He handles many of the technical and business aspects for the band yet remains a great creative force behind the music. He is a wonderful musician, artist, technician, a great father and friend. He’s also very experienced and has had great success with many regional musical projects. Jeff is the founding member of The Vernacular and considers himself blessed to have found a group of positive and talented musicians and friends to create and play music with.

David Martone – Drummer

Dave has a fantastic drive about the music we perform; he is quick witted, logical, reliable, and super creative. His abilities as a drummer and motivator for everyone are remarkable. His energy and drive for an unforgettable performance is never swayed. He has goals for this band and reminds us everyday that if we don’t get out there and play beyond our personal limits we can never reach our goals. He is a fantastic drummer, artist, and motivator. He’s also a wonderful husband to his new wife, Katie and friend to anyone that knows him. He’s highly experienced and has seen success with numerous musical projects. Dave is a positive and talented force behind the Vernacular, literally and figuratively.

Matt Bramer – Bassist

Matt is the newest member of the band and feels completely at home among us. He is a great musician, technician, and friend. He’s helped take the Vernacular to a whole new level, inspiring us and enabling us to take on music that would be difficult or impossible without him. Matt’s crystal clear vocal harmonies and rock solid bass bring power and dynamics to the band that were formerly rare and now lace each performance in abundance. The audience will see, hear and feel the positive charge Matt brings to the band. He’s a great experienced local musician, having great success in many projects, most notably, the very entertaining and successful group Citizen Red. Citizen Red was a powerful, fun and energetic group known for its great vocal combination of Matt Lewis and Matt Bramer. The Vernacular now enjoys that combination as it only adds a blazing and colorful new texture to the vocal harmonies delivered by Steve and Jeff.  The Vernacular is again revitalized and ready for any challenge.

Steve Hamilton – Guitarist

Steve is the youngest member of the band and yet possibly the most reliable and talented among us. He is a classically trained musician and full-time student, majoring in music. He brings a fun and youthful force and inspires us to remain smart about our music. He reminds us all of what it means to be craftsman with the music we create and perform. He’s always paying close attention to the subtle details in the music that can make or break a song’s delivery. Steve is bound for musical greatness. We have no doubt that one day very soon his name will appear in lights and Billboard charts. We can only hope to come along for the journey. Steve is quickly accumulating experience as a performance and studio musician on a variety of instruments, as well as, crafting and engineering high quality studio recordings.

Jan 29 2009 2:32 PM

Hey jeff, thanks for the kind words. The whole thing just came together in the course of about an hour, and we recorded on my laptop so we didn't forget how it went, haha, the guy playing guitar for me.. well his dad actually has a studio in his basement so when we get something a little tighter we're gonna throw it on down there. But we're getting together again next week to tighten some shit up and hopefully finish at least this song. and get a little better recording of the full song. But I'll still check into that stuff you told me about.

Hey Jeff, Thanks for the add. Let me know what you think of our VERY VERY rough demo, should have a much better sounding one after we get together again next week. I'm just glad my lyrics may finally be getting put to use.
