Val's Interests
|
| Music | Not the genre so much as the quality. electroclash, most recently. Anything that gives me ideas. Usually music puts images in my head...that's what originated the animation on this page now, though I largely envisioned it in black and white. | | Movies | Same thing, it has to feel like an interactive experience I really like NON gory horror movies, like Ringu, because they leave your imagination to do the work. I watch all kinds of movies. One that really blew my mind recently was Last King of Scotland. | | Television | I don't usually have a TV. | | Books | For Bread Alone, mohamed choukri.
Ghengis Khan: An account by his contemporaries (Iforget the actual title but man this is amazing)
Season of Migration to the North Tayeb Salih
The Wind-up Bird Chronicle Haruki Murakami
The Satanic Verses, because of this one part with the writer in the brothel, the one Mohammed hated.
Vagabond, by Takehiko Inoue --Everytime I look at that I realize how far I have to go.
Batman, Year 100, by Paul Pope --This guy is blurring the line between his comic writing and his world. All of the backgrounds look like Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where he lives. The fascist camaraderie between the Special Police Force members makes an interesting and real psychological point. They are a brotherhood with their own set of morals.
