Cantante, pianista, attrice, regista, scrittrice. Nata a Roma il 13-01-78. Fin da molto piccola segue suo padre, Mario Maldesi, nel suo lavoro (regia e direzione di post-sincronizzazione e doppiaggio cinematografico) che le consente di vivere in strettissimo contatto con il mondo del teatro e del cinema. Comincia da bambina a recitare, tanto sui palcoscenici quanto in sala di registrazione, ma ciò che più l’attrae è la struttura portante delle opere che incontra, lo scheletro della scrittura. Scrive e riceve numerosissimi premi e riconoscimenti durante gli anni. Comincia quindi a lavorare come dialoghista e adattatrice cinematografica mettendo la sua firma sotto le versioni italiane di film quali: “L’estate di Kikugiro” di Takeshi Kitano, “Una storia vera” di David Linch, “La tigre e il dragone” di Ang Lee, “Regole d’onore” e “The Hunted”, di Wiliam Friedkin. Offre inoltre una collaborazione intensa a Riccardo Aragno, storico dialogista di Kubrik, per “Eyes wide shut”, l’ultimo film terminato dopo la morte del regista. Studia pianoforte e composizione in conservatorio fino all’ottavo anno. Si distacca poi dall’ambiente classico attratta sempre più da ambiti di sperimentazione e ricerca e la musica diventa a quel punto componente importante del proprio lavoro teatrale. Continua a dedicarsi al teatro, alla scrittura teatrale e soprattutto alla regia. Prende parte (come regista, come autrice o come musicista) alla realizzazione di svariati spettacoli ed eventi sul territorio nazionale Riceve l’incarico di ideatrice e curatrice di eventi teatrali e culturali per diversi Comuni, Istituzioni e Accademie in svariate occasioni. Alla fine del 2004 istituisce il gruppo di ricerca e produzione teatrale Dulcamara Teatro. La compagnia Dulcamara e i progetti da essa ideati si muovono sempre verso un teatro sperimentale dotato di un linguaggio espressivo proprio, sempre più definito e forte di una intensa e consapevole ricerca sul piano sostanziale ed estetico. Nel 2005 inaugura il Centro Il Garage - di cui assume la direzione artistica - centro di studio e ricerca cinematografica, teatrale e musicale che ospita annualmente workshop di artisti di fama internazionale oltre a performance, cineforum e concerti. Tutte le proposte del Centro Il Garage ruotano intorno a realtà più o meno fuori dal "sistema", realtà alternative, musica indie, sperimentazione ecc. Laureata in Filosofia della Comunicazione con il massimo dei voti con una tesi dal titolo "Ai margini dell’evoluzione: spunti riflessivi sul corpo tra biologia e tecnologia". Sempre nel 2006 aderisce alla fondazione della band indie-pop Kiddycar. Valentina Cidda

Singer, pianist, actress, theatre director and writer. Born in Rome on 13.01.78, from a very early age she followed her father, Mario Maldesi, in his work (the direction and management of post-synchronization and dubbing of films), which has meant her life has always been very closely connected to the world of theatre and cinema. She began acting as a child, both on stage and in the recording studio, but what attracts her most is the structure of the works she deals with, the written skeleton. Her own writing has received recognition and numerous prizes over the years, and has led her to work as a dialogist and adapter, signing her name to the Italian versions of such films as Kikujiru, by Takeshi Kitano, The straight Story, by David Lynch, Crouching tiger hidden dragon, by Ang Lee, and Rules of Engagement and The Hunted by William Friedkin. In addition she also worked closely with Kubric’s renowned dialogist Riccardo Aragno on the film Eyes Wide Shut, the director’s last film completed after his death. She studied piano at the music academy for eight years, then left the classical arena as her attraction towards the fields of experimental music and research grew, at which point music became an important component in her theatrical work. She continued to concentrate on the theatre, both writing for it and above all directing. She has taken part (as director, author and musician) in a variety of performances and events all over Italy. She has frequently been responsible for initiating and managing theatrical and cultural events for various local councils, institutions and academies. At the end of 2004 she set up the theatre research and production group Dulcamara Teatro. The Dulcamara company and the projects it creates are continually directed towards an experimental theatre with its own specific expressive language, one that is increasingly defined and strong in its intense and serious enquiry on an essential, aesthetic level. In 2005, in an old converted garage, she inaugurated and became artistic director of the Centro Il Garage, a centre for study and research into film, theatre and music, hosting annual workshops by internationally famous artists, as well as performances, film forums and concerts. All the activities at Centro Il Garage are more or less outside the mainstream system: alternative productions, indie music, experimental performances etc. She received a first class honours degree in the Philosophy of Communication with a thesis entitled “At the Borders of Evolution: Some Reflections on the Body in Relation to Biology and Technology”. In 2006 she became a founding member of the indie-pop band Kiddycar.
