Valerie C is that rare lady today with an air of mystery and a nostalgic flair. She is reserved and unveiling only when creating music. The music for her is cathartic and healing. Valerie's sound draws inspiration from her "Senpai",King of POP Michael Jackson, her artistic hero Bjork, and the beauty of Nihongo. She weaves melody, noise, curiosity, and soul on her first EP "Electrocution". Valerie is vocally reminiscent of Janet Jackson and Alicia Keys on uptempo tracks. She has a smooth legato vibe in the style of Sade on her slower tracks.
"Electrocution" examines the shock of love and innocence lost in today's world. The title track deals with the heartbreak of giving your all to a mirage. On "Is it enough", Valerie ponders on materialistic love and wonders if it is enough for her. "Lost World" is a cry out for us as a society to rethink where we are and where we are headed. The music videos that follow aim to bring the Magic of dance lost through an era of "Bling and Booty". She hopes this project will be the beginning of an awesome musical adventure.
Enjoy the sounds!
