| I’m a stand-up comic.
High school:I spent most of high school sucking at sports like soccer, basketball, and track. Then senior year I auditioned for the school play and got in. Our drama coach entered us into the Massachusetts State High School Drama Festival and we ended up winning. I got an acting award for physical comedy in the semi-final round. We then did a tour of the play at local elementary schools(as it was children’s theatre). At the end of the year I was voted class clown and entered a writing contest that the English Department held. I ended getting an award for comedy writing. My experiences in high school made me think, that maybe I could get some kind of job that was related to comedy when "I grew up".
College:The following year I went to college with the intention of becoming a funny children’s author. I auditioned for a sketch comedy group on campus and didn’t get in. This led me to go out on my own to comedy clubs and start doing comedy in the summer of 1997. In that first year I did a character on stage, so I guess you could call that solo sketch comedy. The second year I started reading stories from pieces of paper on stage. Then in my third year I actually started to do stand-up. Then I forget about becoming a funny children’s writer. I started to get paid for comedy while in college and it was going well. I decided to stick with it.
After graduation I was a voice on "Home Movies" on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. Then I moved to NY and honed my stand-up at comedy clubs, bars, small theater spaces and anywhere else that would have me over. Then I performed in some comedy festivals and comedy contests in Boston and NYC. After sending out a bunch of demo tapes I started working with a college agency and my agents submitted me for a regional NACA(National Association of Campus Activies) showcase in St. Paul, Minnesota where I got a standing ovation and got to do a college tour.I then performed at NACA Nationals a year later. Then I was featured on Comedy Central’s "Premium Blend" in December 2005. I continue to do stand-up.
