Valley Free Radio is a non-profit, community based and volunteer run radio station for the Greater Northampton area. We seek to educate, inspire, and entertain through programming that reflects the diversity of the local community. We seek to provide a space for media access and education, placing equipment, skills, and critical tools in the hands of the community. We aim to serve with particular regard for those overlooked or under-represented by other media and to provide for the exchange of cultural and intellectual ideas and music.

As commercial radio stations across the country continue to recycle the same handful of played out songs week after week, a new bill in Congress is giving musicians and their fans some hope for the future. The Local Community Radio Act would authorize the FCC to put more local radio stations – known as “low power FM” (LPFM) – on the air. For musicians, the Local Community Radio Act will be invaluable – thousands of new noncommercial stations could be licensed across the country, giving musicians and fans the chance to gain exposure to an astonishing array of music.
