”Koder på snor” is Valravn’s long awaited second album. The title (translation: “Codes on a string”) is inspired by the Superstrings theory of all forces and particles in the universe being connected.

With ”Koder på snor”, Valravn take new steps towards an even more personal music, which is true to its roots but is equally a child of the present and the future.
Whereas the self-titled debut album ”Valravn” consisted mainly of interpretations of traditional Nordic songs, the bulk of the songs on ”Koder på snor” are written by the band itself, giving the music a sharper edge and even more of the misty and magical atmosphere that remains one of Valravn’s hallmarks.
Once again, the charismatic Faroese singer Anna Katrin Egilstrøð is the narrative heart of Valravn - guide par excellence on the mental and musical journey through open landscapes that ”Koder på snor” is, with the melancholic and longing Nordic tone as a starting point, shaped by wide-open spaces. Everywhere with a rare and very efficient dynamic, the music moves from storm to stillness with the natural ease of the sea rising with the tide.
The band debuted in 2007 with the self-titled album “Valravn”. Their blend of electronics, raw energy and Nordic folk roots took audiences as well as critics by storm. The album was nominated for three Danish Music Awards.
Valravn has toured extensively in Denmark and Europe, having played festivals and venues in Germany, Norway, The Netherlands, Faroe Islands, France and Switzerland, to name a few. Highlights include Roskilde Festival, Spot Festival, by:Larm and TFF Rudolstadt.
The band plays a number of concerts in the fall; including a performance at the international world music expo “Womex” in Copenhagen in October.
“Koder på snor” is released September 7th 2009 in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, The Netherlands and the UK through Westpark Music and in Denmark through VME.
