Valtakunnan juuret alkavat vuodesta 2007 jolloin laulaja/kitaristi Samu ja rumpali Antti aloittivat soittamaan yhdessä autotallissa. He tekivät joitakin hyviä kappaleita ja soittelivat niitä yhdessä ystäviensä kanssa ilman suurempaa päämäärää.

Yhtyeen alkuaikoina kokoonpano vaihtui useasti ja silti heidän musiikkinsa kasvoi määrätietoisemmaksi ajan myötä. Vaikkakin heidän saamansa palaute oli jo melko hyvää niihin aikoihin, monista syistä johtuen he eivät kuitenkaan yrittäneet sen kummemmin lähteä keikkailemaan. Autotallissa soittaminen riitti heille hyvin.

Vuosi 2008 menikin nopeasti ja vaikka harjoitukset olivat satunnaisia, syntyi silti uusia kappaleita ja tuli alkoi palamaan voimakkaampana. Eri kokoonpanoja kokeiltiin silti mutta mitään ei lyöty lukkoon. Tarve päästä ulos autotallista ja keikoille kasvoi tasaisesti isommaksi, mutta aika ei ollut vielä oikea.

Viimein alkuvuodesta 2009 he tekivät henkilökohtaisen läpimurtonsa kun yhtyeeseen löytyi uusi basisti Dimi. Hän oli itseasiassa tämän yksinkertaisen palapelin puuttuva osa. Kaikki toimi alusta alkaen heidän välillään vaikkakin hänet oli hälytetty ensimmäiselle keikalle päivän varoitusajalla entisen basistin peruttua juuri ennen keikkaa.

Heidän esiintymisensä jätti niin hyvän vaikutuksen, että Valtakunta sai mahdollisuuden kiertää yhdessä Bloody Mary -nimisen yhtyeen kanssa koko vuoden. Kiertue jatkuu edelleen ja he eivät pelkästään lämmittele lauteita vaan sytyttävät ne tuleen! Tällä hetkellä he ovat myös äänittämässä yhtyeen depyytti-EP:tä "Armoton" joka julkaistaan kesällä 2009.

The band's roots go back to 2007 when lead guitarist and singer/songwriter Samu started playing with drummer Antti in the basic garage band style. They made a few nice songs and played with their friends without an actual goal in front of them.

The composition of the band changed very often in the early stages and yet the sound got stronger and more confident over time. The feedback they received was already quite good in those times, but for various reasons they didn't go any further. Playing in the garage was enough at the time.

The year 2008 went by fast, and although practises were scarce, some new songs were born and the fire started burning stronger. The assembly of the band was still in an experimental stage. The urge to get out of the practise room and perform for a bigger audience got steadily stronger, however the time wasn't quite right yet.

In the year 2009 they had their own breaktrough when they found the basist Dimi, who was actually the missing piece of this simple puzzle. The chemistry was just right, everything clicked immediately even though he was called to the very first concert with a day's notice, because the former basist canceled right before the gig.

The performance of that very gig left such a good impression that Valtakunta was offered a chance to tour with the band Bloody Mary troughout the whole year. As the tour continues, they now not only warm up the stage but set it on fire! At the moment they are also recording their first EP "Armoton" which is released in the summer of 2009.
