Valve Records created BAND IN A BUBBLE in conjunction with Regurgitator (and developed with XYZ) - the experimental merge (and parody) of music industry and reality shows where Regurgitator lived in a purpose built glass studio in Federation Square, Melbourne for 3 weeks to create, live, eat and sleep live in public, on TV, the Internet... a media convergence spectacle. Valve Records manages the international rights for this project and has so far licensed the concept to the US & UK... with current discussions under way for Germany. The US version aired in May 2007 on MTV with the band Cartel on the inside of a somewhat different approach to the Australian version. Valve is a Brisbane based conduit for releasing music from all quarters and directions. Valve works in conjunction with Consume that both manages artists (mainly Regurgitator & I Heart Hiroshima), promotes and administers tours (including Ratatat, Peaches, Mono, Trans Am, Kid606, JD Samson, Stereo Total and more…) and somehow or another raps this into one all consuming project.
Valve collaborates with local, national and international artists as it unfolds to varying degrees including physical and digital music release, management, touring and other areas of support and possible expertise. Valve works with MGM Distribution as located in Sydney.
Valve is transfixed by the weird collision of culture and commerce and how creativity and integrity negotiates a path through this quagmire to survive and flourish especially in these hyper-mediated times.

1.1. These are the direct licensing guidelines of VALVE RECORDS. At present we do not have the capacity to directly licence any of our sound recordings or music videos for public performance or transmission.
1.2. Given the legal and administrative costs involved with direct licensing we are unable to offer direct licenses at competitive rates for public performance or transmission. We will review our position every 12 months to consider whether the size and skill base of our organisation enables us to engage in direct licensing.

DEL TORO (QLD) - ALBUM LAUNCH THURSDAY 17TH JULY 8PM/$8 DING DONG LOUNGE - MELBOURNE Brisbane's purveyors of psych-out spaghetti futurism Del Toro follow up their ep Formicae with debut album Hydra. After shows with Dinosaur Jr, Built to Spill, Brant Bjork, Trans Am, Partyline, City City City and comparisons to everything from Kyuss to Can, these two guys and a chick submerged into the studio with Casey Rice (Tortoise, Veruca Salt, Dirty Three) to surface with tracks of sonic mind flotation. Get hydrated and sink into it...Since forming in 2004, Del Toro have become well-known for their diverse instrumental music that varies from spacious, epic sound scapes to punchy post-punk wig-outs, 2008 sees the release of their debut album, Hydra, on Valve Records. Hydra represents a culmination of Del Toro’s musical history, containing 12 tracks composed over the last three years, and re-recordings of 2 tracks from their debut DIY release, 2005’s Despres. The band worked collaboratively with Casey Rice in his Melbourne studio to mix Hydra as a progressive journey into the nether regions of space and sound. The result is a kind of psychedelic desert rock for the ocean depths. Original bassist Jason Leca has recently departed for China, and Del Toro have recruited local luminary, Tam Patton (Full Fathom Five, Nightstick) to fulfil bass duties.
