Influences
A handful of great trips to Spain, Buenos Aires, Mexico, Iowa City and Madison. Sunrises and Sunsets. Good friends and family. Bad friends and family. Art. Cinema. Weather. Great teachers, peers and students.
Tony Hartman was born in Davenport, Iowa to a musical family. Following in his siblings footsteps, he started studying piano with his grandma at a very early age. Growing up, Tony had the pleasure of performing in a variety of choirs, playing double bass in orchestras, percussion in concert and marching bands and drum set in jazz bands, church bands and his own rock groups. After graduating high school, he moved to the Nashville area to attend Middle Tennessee State University where he currently is working on bachelor degrees in Music Education and Spanish. Since arriving in the Nashville area, Tony quickly began branching out into new musical endevours to build on the talents that he refined in Iowa. Once introduced to world musics, Tony quickly began performing and composing in these styles, earning him a solid reputation as a captivating performer, eager student and passionate teacher.
Tony has been seen/heard performing and recording with Roy "Futureman" Wooten's Black Mozart Ensemble on the steel pan, playing salsa piano with Lalo Davila and Friends, performing and recording on percussion with Tequila-a flamenco-pop quartet (NEW CD Del Mundo Nuevo OUT NOW), playing percussion with Mike Anderson and the Deputies, playing drum set with surf-rock sensation-The Lavamen, playing drum set with several jazz groups including his own trio and front-maning his own wedding/party band- The Great Barrier Reefs and Tony.
Tony recently has had three of his steel band compositions published by Rowloff Productions! Those pieces can be heard above and are available for purchase at www.rowloff.com
Tony also has a solo steel drum act that is perfect for a private luau, pool party, baby shower or any other party!

We've got a big week coming up next week. We're having our CD release party in Murfreesboro at 527 Main St. on Thursday night. We've worked our butts off on this thing and we're incredibly happy with it. Come on out to the show and we'll give you a CD. Our buddies Moon Taxi will be opening up starting at around 9:30, so get there early. They've got a brand new CD that will be available too.
We also just got our new T-shirts and stickers in stock and they look great. We hope to see you out on the 26th. Also check out our page for more upcoming shows.
