About me: I was born in Appleton, Minnesota. I shortly thereafter moved to Seattle, Washington. I lived there until I was 13 and then moved to Minneapolis. The transition was not easy.
I began my professional art career in 1983 designing and illustrating menus. This was before computers, so all of the type setting was done by hand. Chartpak anyone? Tedious at best.
I wanted to draw comics from the time I was small and Adam West was was playing Batman on TV. I had my first professional comic work published in 1988 in Caliber Presents #9. I worked on and off in comics until 1999. The highlight of my comic career thus far being inking Rick Veitch in Alan Moore's run on Supreme. Issue #49.
In 1990 I took a summer job at Mike Jones Film Corps. I worked my way up from the Ink & Paint Department (fastest cell inker they had ever seen!) to assistant animator and finally to animator on Spider-man for Marvel Productions. I've worked for Warner Bros on Pinky and the Brain and Animaniacs. I spent a few in years in the trenches doing commercial animation and storyboards for film, television, and animation.
1994 I went back to school to learn about computers. I went into corporate training or what is now called eLearning for the next 10-15 years and still do it occasionally.
In 1995 I began working in film. I began with Kevin Smith's Mallrats when a flower delivery for my father's floral shop lead to me becoming the Art Director for that movie. I also worked on Grumpier Old Men, Feeling Minnesota, and Overnight Delivery. And bunch of other crap I can't remember.
From there I moved to San Francisco for a few years and then to Los Angeles. I worked in film and television for a few more years until 1997 when I moved back to Minnesota on a whim.
In 1998 I met Mary in an acting for camera class that Andrew Hunt and I were teaching. I honestly didn't believe in love at first site. But that's what happened. Luckily she felt the same way. Consequently we were married in 2000 and shortly thereafter moved to Las Vegas on a dare (not recommended!!). From there we moved to Orange County. That's when we learned to surf and discovered our mutual love for the ocean.
Mary and I have four children between us. Three intelligent, artistic, and beautiful daughters. And one handsome talented son. We now have an outrageous grand daughter named Sadie Belle ('cuz we're Southern at heart) who is obviously the most beautiful child ever conceived.
Weird but true...
I also act. Mostly in live theater. Although I've done voice over for about ten years as well. My favorite role thus far was Prospero in The Tempest. Lately I've been acting in short films. My favorite scene partner is my talented. beautiful, social scientist/actress wife Mary.Lately I've been acting in short films (less rehearsal, and less stress).
I tend to work in many different mediums and styles. So far gouache has suited me best and I'm about to start playing around with acrylics.
I'm currently doing a massive amount of corporate work (uh...that's where they keep tha' "money" yo!).
Who I'd like to meet: Freakin' anyone....that isn't interested in offering me No-Pay...until it sells dudework...Cuz ya'know... that never happens...*ahem*...
Seriously: Artists, writers, actors, apes with a dislike of humans, you know the usual....creative genuine people.
