Vance was lead vocalist, songwriter and guitarist for The Mosquitos during their run in the early to mid 80s as one of the most popular club bands in the Long Island and NYC area.
The Mosquitos were known for their original songs when most other bands were doing covers exclusively. Their hard driving performances took them from Sparks, a local Long Island venue, to clubs in New York City including the Peppermint Lounge, Beacon Theater, Irving Plaza and Folk City.
