VANGUARDS (DJ Kemo, Big Syphe, Vago, hAZEL, Don Cristo and Fac) are a production team to be reckoned with. With over 15 years of combined musical experience, VANGUARDS are respected for creating energetic music from (yet, not limited to) Hip-Hop R&B/Soul, Reggae, Reggaeton and House.
Gifted and versatile, they have built a solid foundation by television soundtracking for 4REAL TV (which broadcasts on MTV, National Geographic and CTV) and video game soundtracking for EA Sports (NBA Homecourt, FIFA Streets 3).
VANGUARDS are ready to break the international market with their exclusive introduction as VANGUARDS music with production on Kardinal Offishall's lead off single 'Dangerous' featuring Akon on the album entitled, Not for Sale (2008, Konvict Muzik). The single 'Dangerous' went on to sell 2.6 million copies world wide.
They have also produced all five classic Rascalz albums including significant hits such as, 'Northern Touch' featuring Kardinal Offishall, Choclair, Checkmate and Thrust on Cash Crop (1997, Vik. Recordings/BMG Canada), 'Top of the World' featuring Barrington Levy and K-OS on Global Warning (1999, ViK Recordings/BMG Canada), and 'Crazy World' featuring Notch and Sazon Diamante on Reloaded (2002, ViK. Recordings/BMG Canada).
With their relentless love for music, this crew of super talented producers have ventured off into different paths of their own. As a highly sought-after Producer, DJ Kemo was apart of the legendary Canadian hip-hop group, Rascalz and currently is DJing internationally as well as producing. As both On-Air Personality and DJ, Big Syphe holds down the weekly 3-7pm spot on Los Angles’ number one radio station Power 106 with Eric D-Lux. Syphe also runs the urban scene DJing all across the United States. With an independent label, Vago is the Founder/Producer of 9th Prophesy Productions and is highly involved with developing artist’s careers. Fac is the technology wizard in VANGUARDS! His knowledge is astounding when it comes to knowing what program will be efficient and most creative. hAZEL (the lower case h) is the melodic piece of the crew.
VANGUARDS is now the new name for the original Lab-Rats team. which was established back in 1993 by DJ Kemo and his counterparts.
Now in collaboration with Big Syphe from Power 106FM in Los Angeles, we've formed a new crew of super talented producers.
