The Vanguard are a product of three different energies:
Luke is the frontman. He sings, he plays, he spasms (In a stylish way).
Nick is the lineback. He batters the kit, and screams along (where appropriate).
Ben is the bassman. He makes all the noises that hit you in the chest (some of them with his bass).
Influenced by music as diverse as nu-metal, hip-hop, prog, indie, grunge and post-hardcore, The Vanguard's sound is quirky, aggressive, and heartfelt all at once. Their Debut E.P., "Massive Brutal Robots", is a selection of five of their most immediate and energetic songs from their first year together as a band. Having played a grand total of three gigs, the band is already receiving local radio airplay and is aiming to put together a tour by christmas.
The EP is now fully mixed and available from here and from all gigs. If you want one, e-mail blueminerva@gmail.com and we'll give you an address. If you whap us a quid to cover postage, we'll sent you an envelope containing a shiny copy of the EP and big thankyou hug (in note form). The EP is free at all gigs, though donations are always welcome!
hey guys, i got you down for the 4th october for Oxjam @ Queen Charlotte, but for some reason you don't seem to have got my reply, is it still ok for you to play???
Excellent, we have done alot of flyering and had alot of interest so hopefuly there will be a good crowd for you guys, but im looking forward to it no matter what. cheers
i'll try some distortion on the vox yeh, no probs. got some newer drum software that i wanna try out too for the samples i used with nicks drums. fun fun! next time i reckon it'd be wise to set a day out for guitars and just do shed loads of tracks, make it beefy as. but until then, its a pretty phat demo to get gigs and whatever else!
new soundcard arriving monday and i'll get onto mixing the 5th song and re doing the whole EP again so it all sounds top notch. sorry for being slack, work is a bitch and i've been up in leeds but it will get done. ideally i'd love some more recording time, but get some new songs and i'll record them soon too!i have new gear too, so it'll be mega mega mega!
Will sort that out very soon. Will just be a simple job nothin too fancy - btw we're paying rory to film our set and edit it etc. , so ill make sure he films at least one of your songs for ya?
hey guys, thanks for the interest in Oxjam! Am still looking for a venue but will let you know! You will need to have all your own equipment as in the past (and as i don't have much time) it has proved to be a helluva job! Let me know! k x
