Bio
...... The dynamic quartet Vanity X has been arousing audiences with their awesome live show and trademark rock grooves. Vanity X first burst onto the Melbourne music scene with a vengeance in 2005, playing the likes of the Hi Fi Bar and Ballroom, Central Club Hotel, The famed Espy and most rock venues in their native Melbourne. Throughout the last year, the band have been finalists at the’ Make Poverty History' competition, semi-finalists for the Melbourne 'Battle of the Sounds' competitions and currently awaiting their state finals slot for the worldwide Emergenza battles this coming October!.... The powerful track “Release Me’ has found its way onto community television – Channel 31 and SBS courtesy of Noise TV and Asylum TV & was also featured on the soundtrack to a documentary entitled "Sins of the City" a feature based on Melbourne’s underground fashion scene themed around Frank Miller's "Sin City", as well as receiving numerous awards on Independent band websites such as www.garageband.com..... Several of Vanity X's tracks have also received heavy airplay on internet based radio stations in the United States and as of September 2006 'As Fast As I Can' has received an honorable mention for Rock Single of the Year at the 2006 L.A Music Awards, Whilst 2007 sees the masterpiece 'Crown of Thorns' come third in May's Song of the Year contest at www.songoftheyear.com.... Here's what they had to say about it! : A powerful, unique and compelling song. Solid melodies with a powerful arrangement compliment the emotional musicianship. The textured sounds and reflective lyrics lend well to the listener's sensitivities. The musical experience is powerful - voice, musical arrangement and passionate delivery by all involved. An empowering song, the boldness of the lyrical content gives you an edge that makes 'Crown of Thorns' very marketable in either the contemporary Rock or contemporary Metal markets..... After sales of their EP rapidly surpassed the production rate, the band took some time off to venture into Indent Studios in Melbourne to begin recording their 12 song, self produced, full length album “Random Thoughts’ featuring the stand out “Release Me”, the punishing “Gravity” and the crowd favorites’ “As Fast As I Can”, “Tell Me”, "Turn Your Back" and “Crown of Thorns”..... The band was originally formed in early 2005 when lead guitarist Jon Lambousis along with Bill Pantel and George Sotiriadis set about creating the band that would bring rock music back to the stadiums and arenas of the world. The 2 musicians searched for the perfect foil for their musicianship and personalities. Enter Nass Athans on Bass..... Bridging their respective influences, the foursome started carving their own brand of hard rock, fusing George’s powerful, dynamic and unique drumming style, Nass’ pounding grooves on bass, Jon’s ‘wall of sound’ rhythm guitars and fiery, melodic lead work and Bill's powerful melodic vocals, the quartet was on its way to forging their own voice and infusing a much needed kick-start into the rock scene..... 2008 sees Vanity X shopping their 4 song demo, featuring cuts from the forthcoming album 'Random Thoughts', to industry executives as well as continuing to do what they do best – making sure the name Vanity X stays ingrained in the audience's mind long after the final notes of the show have rung…....
