Richard is Director of the Berean Academy After School Music Program. He is an instructor and teaching assistant at the University of South Florida where he is finishing a Master of Music in Jazz Composition and Jazz Performance. He received his B.M. from Hope College in Holland, Michigan where he was awarded the Distinguished Artist Scholarship. An active saxophonist and composer/arranger primarily in the Tampa Bay area, Rich has performed all over the United States as well as in Europe, where he performed at the Vienne, Montreux, and North Sea Jazz Festivals. He has accompanied and recorded with such artists as Richard Davis, Jack Wilkins, Steve Davis, Jim McNeely, “Blue” Lou Marini, Chris Vidala, The Dan McMillian Jazz Orchestra, and The Don Juceum Orchestra. Rich also directs and performs with his own groups, The Mars Trio, The Van Voorst Jazz Quartet, and The Forefront regularly throughout the Tampa Area. As a composer, Rich studied under renowned composer Chuck Owen and has experience writing for big bands, various jazz combos, orchestras, choirs, worship ensembles, as well as other chamber groups. In 2006, he was selected by the Center for Jazz Composition at USF to arrange a piece for Karrin Allison for the Jazz Masterworks Series. In his spare time, Rich enjoys gourmet cooking, good conversation over a fresh cup of coffee and spending time with his wife.

hey!! oh i dont even want to talk about my camping trip, it was awful! but in the end we passed! so ive got my silver duke of ed done, which is al that matters! how are u, n bonnie? just started work today! it was very annoying having to get up early, but it was ok, erm.. i was just checking people in for appointments and giving out perscriptions! wasnt excatly what u would call fun! thankyou again for the breakfast! still cant wait to get that sort of treatment over here! :) Grace x
