VARGUS's Interests
General
I love long walks on the beach, cuddling and candle lit dinners...just playin. Man, who doesn't love THE ROAR OF THE CROWD, the one thing that feels like a true gift from God.
I love a good chess game, salsa dancing and a good prize fight. I'll talk politics with the best of them, but I'm crazy opinionated. Travel is so huge to me. I'm blessed with the best job in the world that allows me to see people of all walks of life and all cultures. Telling jokes has taken me to over a dozen different countries.
You get to see how other cultures have done it right with less money. There is compassion all over that surpasses language barriers. You got to take all that in every chance you get, if that counts as an interest.
Music
Jill Scott, Gnarls Barkley, P-Funk, Sting, Prince, Timbaland, Missy Elliot and don't forget Marvin Gaye. Right now I've been listening to Cassidy a bit and Talib Kwali. I actually respect Mos Def more as an actor every day. Yall remember New Edition though huhn?! That was my group! Mad love for BBD Ralph Tresvant and Bobbie Brown(precrack). Who didn't have MC Hammer parachute pants back in the day? (I did listen to Steve Perry in my youth, but damn it!! I was a black man in Denver Colorado. Can ya blame me?)
Movies
THE PROFESSIONAL, hands down the tightest movie ever made. Also love THE FISHER KING, LAST OF THE MOHICANS, HUSTLE AND FLOW, RAISING ARIZONA, TRAINING DAY. Go check out this french film called GIRL ON BRIDGE. It's about a nymphomaniac who falls in love with a knife thrower. Sounds kinky, but really, it's on point. Then there's DANGEROUS LIASONS, BLAZING SADDLES. AIRPLANE is the funniest thing hands down. AKIRA, HARDBOILED, PITCH BLACK, SEVEN, THE TERMINATOR, ALIENS, CROUCHING TIGER-HIDDEN DRAGON, GLORY. THE COLOR PURPLE and ET are the only movies I'll ever admit I might have shed a tear in.
Television
24, THE OFFICE, LOST, GREY'S, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, FLAVOR OF LOVE, RENO 911, BOONDOCKS, VENTURE BROS, FAMILY GUY, oh shit just thow in most of adult swim. And last but not lease THE WIRE is the best damn show period!

Heroes
This is Moms. Really the only hero I've ever known. Single Black Woman, completely deaf, raised 4 kids on her own. It don't get more heroic than that. The rest are just cats I admire.
About me:
In the third grade, I lied to my home room teacher Ms. Gray. I had changed schools and told her that, "my last teacher use to let me tell jokes to the class." God bless her, Ms. Gray said, "OK you can have 5 minutes at the end of class."
See, I wanted to make people laugh even then, so bad it hurt. With a childs fearlessness I told my first jokes and stories. I made fun of shasta commercials and cleanser ads where white kids who didn’t get beat for spilling grape juice on the carpet. In some ways it is still what I do now. Humor will always be the one best gift I ever got.
Thank you to everyone whose carried me along the way. I didn’t have to have Ms. Gray. I could have had one of those teachers who squashed a childs dreams. I could’ve had a Moms who didn’t walk me to my first audition. Moms never stop me once. I could have had friends who weren’t there for me when I needed them. I’m one of those kids who made it out, but wouldn’t have without a grip of people who dropped love for free, wanting nothing in return.
Who I'd like to meet: Barack Obama, Garry Kasprov, Bill Cosby, George Clinton, Bill Clinton and Simon Peter. I'd also like to meet Oprah, yeah I said it. What you gonna do about it sucka mc's!
