VARIZ.ORG is a Portuguese promoter and record label based on both poles of the Lisbon-Porto axis since 2001, operating in the grey area between abstraction and the dancefloor. Its aim is to bring the newest generation of Portuguese media-art projects and producers into acknowledgement by a wider audience.
Promoter of many concerts by some international artists in Portugal, including: Safety Scissors, Maüse, Felix Kubin, Neoangin, Portable aka Bodycode, Bruno Pronsato, Lump, Sutekh, Cylob, Frank Bretschneider, Nova Huta, Fennesz, Akufen, The Activator, Jakob Kirkegaard, Andrew Poppy, Kim Cascone, Cluster, Oriol Rossell, Ikue Mori, Curd Duca. Co-produced the multidisciplinary project SuperStereo Demonstration, which occurred in 2002 at ZDB Gallery and in 2005 at Linhares of Beira medieval castle. Also curated the music program of two editions of the Número-Projecta festival and recently the first edition of VilaTone - Vilamoura Mixed Media and Music Festival MMVIII.
The label’s roster of 6 releases includes: Tam, @C, Migso, Lolly and Brains, Nova Huta, Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzp!, Manuel Mota, Discmen, João Castro Pinto, Producers, Stapletape,…; and it has welcome contributions from the following visual artists: Alexandre Estrela, Lia, Miguel Soares, Dora Sousa Santos, Luís Alegre, Miguel Sá and Rev Design.
Alan Abrahams (aka Bodycode) is a restless spirit. His tracks have itchy feet and busy brains, chugging along at a brisk clip while cramming in enough rhythmic detail that make one’s head spin. Alan grew up in post-Apartheid South Africa, where polyrhythmic percussion first entered his bloodstream; he then lived in Portugal for years, sweating it out in Lisbon’s club scene while absorbing the sounds of electronic dance music and releasing tracks via numerous aliases. Three years after releasing 2006’s The Conservation of Electric Charge on Spectral Sound, the man known as Bodycode moved from Lisbon to Berlin. Now, Teutonic house music’s taut, jacking rhythms form the core of Immune, Alan’s new full-length as Bodycode.

ABOVE SMOKE [concerto] Deep Explorer Music, Madrid (02h30) TRA$H CONVERTERS [DJ set] variz.org (01h30 > 06h)

listen to our latest release [BWO027] SAX SECRETS - KLANGFREQUENZ FT YVES LE FRANC supported by Tim Green, Dean Facer, Paul Loraine, Tony Rodriguez, Igor Marijuan, Kiko Martinez and many more!! Sambuca surely shows more the deep, melodic but very stylish side of Deep House music whereas Klangfrequenz' remix of E-Wozz' original track Gwada is a more pumpy and drum orientated display of playful Tech House. Watch out for these tracks, it's a great way to release the warm summer feelings once more before the winter delivers the opposite!
