I hope I won't be put in any particular drawer. I think it will take me a number of years to find my own, purely original sound (if such thing exist...). At this stage, I like to work closely with directors and producers and really try to find out what it is they are looking for. I am versatile and flexible and adapt to each project.
Vasco was born and raised in Hameln, Germany. At 16, he wrote and composed his first musical, 'Somebody's Life', and sang the lead in the 1998 premiere. The musical was later published by the Deutscher Theaterverlag and has regularly been staged in Germany since -------------- In 1999, Vasco was offered a scholarship by the Berklee College of Music, Boston (see www.berklee.edu), which he accepted to study Vocal Performance and Film Scoring. Over the next four years, Vasco considerably widened his stylistic range, wrote numerous songs, concert pieces and lead more than 30 recitals. ---------------
Upon graduation in May 2004, he was offered a place and scholarship at the Royal College of Music, London (see www.rcm.ac.uk), to study Composition for Screen towards a Master of Music degree. He graduated in October 2005. ---------------
Since late 2005 Vasco has been working as a freelance composer and arranger. He has worked as an asissstant for film composer Trevor Jones and regularly arranges songbooks for Music Sales Ltd. (see www.musicroom.com). In early 2006, he composed the original score for the independent feature film: "The Sandpiper" (USA 2006; see www.imdb.com and www.jossmedia.com). ---------------
In 2006 Vasco returned to the Royal College of Music, holding the Lord and Lady Lurgan Junior Fellowship in Composition. In July 2007, he was awarded the same Junior Fellowship for 2007/2008 ---------------
Current and future projects include a 20-min ballet (see mp3's) as well as two feature film scores. Vasco is also researching for a new musical.
