First off, I want to give thanks and all glory to God, for blessing me with my many gifts and talents, that he has allowed me to share with you. And so - my story begins with me being surrounded by so much talent. I give credit to my parents and siblings for being my most positive and influential support. As a young boy, I spent years observing my family and their various 'gifts' ranging from being an artist, to a seamstress, to a musician among so many more talents than this mere list can give justice. During the mid-eighties, I wrote my first song entitled, Jesus Died up on the Cross, and was given the opportunity to sing this very song during an Easter program. The reaction I received was overwhelming and joyous and as far back as I can remember - one of the most fulfilling moments thus far in my life. That particular moment is when I realized my talents for being a songwriter and entertainer would soon become my true calling.
With all the things that come from being an entertainer and musician, once again, I continue to give praise to my church and my family two very positive influences in allowing me to express my talents in a pure and honest way. Through past and present contacts, Ive already been afforded the opportunity to perform for record-breaking audiences along side big ticket names well-known to the entertainment industry one being, John Legend, my brother. Being blessed with these opportunities, has allowed me, Vaughn Anthony, to create a name for myself in the music and entertainment world. I have travelled all around the world singing background for JL in front of thousands of people. Now it's my turn to come from the back and step up front as I'm working on my album with people like Teddy Riley and various other producers.
In the end, I am an eclectic artist who cannot be singled out in just one genre of music or labeled as one type of entertainer. I am very versatile in what I do. Therefore as a studio / performing artist my future is in music simply because - it is a part of what makes me, Vaughn Anthony.
