Originally founded in 1983 under the name “Tropical Latin Sound” by its current President and Chairman of the Board, Johnnie R. Rivera. In 1998 the Company’s name was changed to the present name Vaya DJ. The Company consists of bilingual DJ’s and MC’s, which have performed 100’s of Weddings, Anniversaries, Corporate, and Private events.
Vaya DJ is the prominent force in the Tampa Bay nightlife. Through Vaya DJ, Mr. Rivera oversees an empire that targets the Hispanic community. His motivation in doing what is necessary to ensure a positive outcome is simple: “I enjoy seeing people have a good time.”
Johnnie R. Rivera is a 30-year veteran of the music industry with international experience. He has performed as a DJ with many internationally known artists throughout his career, and around the world.
After establishing himself as a DJ, Mr. Rivera has developed himself as a promoter working at the Top Latin Clubs in the Tampa Bay Area. He has been recognized as a leader in the Latin Music Industry and has won numerous awards from the community. His love for Latin music has won him DJ of the Year Awards.
Vaya DJ has also donated their time and services to the Latin Community such as: The Tampa Police Department Hispanic Heritage Committee, Pro-USF Scholarship Trust Fund for the Latin American Community, Aetna Hispanic Network, E. L. Bing School, Chase Hispanic Heritage, Bank of America Hispanic Heritage and others.
