Mark your calendars! October 24th is the date for the third annual Ventura County Derby Darlin's Battle for the Coast Roller Derby Tournament and we are now booking vendors!
The Ventura County Derby Darlins are a dedicated, passionate group of women who are committed to the support and growth of all female, flat track roller derby. VCDD had its inaugural bout in March of 2007, and has vastly grown and improved as an organization since. The Derby Darlins are a not-for-profit organization, and much of the money they make goes to local community charities. This year we are focusing on breast cancer and our charity is "Ribbons for Life" a local Ventura county breast cancer charity.
The Ribbons of Life Breast Cancer Foundation was born out of need. The purpose of this Foundation is to serve as a "bridge" to the Ventura County community while serving as a "clearinghouse of information" for all who are affected by breast cancer. ROL is not a national or global organization, but a local "grassroots" organization created and run by volunteers from a variety of professions, and socio-economic backgrounds.
Our third annual Battle for the Coast is a whole day of roller derby action, featuring teams from all over the coast, including girls from Disaster City (Inland Empire), Orange County, Prison City (Chino), San Diego, and even as far as Washington (the Oly Rollers!).
If you were not at LAST year’s event, here's what happened:
We sold out of the vendor hall, we had over 2,000 people come out, and we had 10 teams skating hard to move up and make it to the top 2. We had a great crowd all day, enjoying live music and entertainment as well as hot derby action, and with the proceeds we were able to donate over $2000 to the Ventura Rescue Mission. Congrats to Oly Rollers and Angel City Derby Girls for taking 1st and 2nd place, and for giving all of us such an exciting, action packed final game!
This year we have room for over 90 vendors. The booths are 10 x 10 and they include a table, 2 chairs and 2 all day passes. Some of the vendors we had last year, and are looking forward to having again this year are:
Zombie Rock Apparel
Lucky 11
Suicide Girls
Deliciously Evil
Handsome Devil/good girl bad girl
We have an all new crew on board, working hard to make this year as much fun or better. The only thing missing is your vendor form and participation. Every year BFTC has been getting bigger and bigger, and as part of VCDD I would hate to see you miss this year’s Event. I am looking forward having you as a part of this year's Battle for the Coast here in Ventura Ca.
