"V-Double–E hit us with a couple of tracks to set the standard for the night ahead. All the women got to their feet, whistled, clapped and identified with what she was singing about. The song, entitled ‘Paint The Town Red’ went deep and trust me, you need to hear it."
"She has an ability to play with words and deliver punchy, and at times, cheeky rhymes."
“We played it and fell in love with it”
“A fresh female vocalist with catchy lyrics and a distinguished style”
"I guess what I like about this record is it's quirkiness. Going through the sacks of music that comes into 1Xtra, the MP3's and everything I get on my computer, I'm always looking for something a little bit fresh. Lately I've been getting loads of Hip Hip of not the greatest variety so I'm not really in that but this I thought was kinda good - V-Double-E with Don't Hold Me Back'
" Up and coming? Well as hard as she works I think the only way is up for this lady"
V-Double-E started performing at underground Drum & Bass raves in London in the summer of 2004. Of Czech and English descent, she grew up listening to artists including Bjork, Alanis Morissette and more recently Amy Winehouse, Jill Scott and Ms Dynamite. She was massively influenced by her brother Rob Random and toured with him as he DJ’d at Drum & Bass gigs around London with Random Sound System.
In 2006 V branched out on her own securing a residency at Fizzy Wednesday a fortnightly Drum & Bass event at the Masque Bar, Kings Cross.
Working alongside up-and-coming DJ’s and MC’s, V gained valuable experience performing and great contacts within the industry. Since then she has featured at Drum and Bass events in London which include Movement, Definition, Technicality and No Rest For The Wicked.
Although Drum & Bass has always been V’s main musical motivation she has been keen to explore other musical avenues, having collaborated in various musical projects over the last few years.
V began working with the Roundhouse in 2005 where she featured in their Hip Hop Musical ‘2 Be The 1’. Having impressed the organisation with her passion and dedication, V was asked to deliver a speech at the official opening of the refurnished building and has since hosted at some events as a Compare.
In 2006 V made it to the final five of Phuturehype – an annual female MC competition where she recorded a sound and music video as part of the promotion.

2007 was a very productive year for V. She featured on T4’s Musicool where she made it to the final and appeared in a series of episodes.
During the summer V auditioned for the London Urban Collective and worked on their project ‘Inferno’. She collaborated with 20 other young artists on an album and feature length music video, which will be released later this year.
V has progressed massively in 2008. She completed a mini tour of Israel performing Drum and Bass sets with Rob Random.

She started working with Super Producer Stereo Dan on material for her EP. Pure Play Music has made her a featured artist on their website and her track ‘Don’t Hold Me Back’ was featured on Radio 1Xtra’s Homegrown Podcast.
