Intense. Powerful. Emotionally driven. All words to describe one of the most innovative new rock bands quickly exploding onto today's music scene; Veehr.
Comprised of vocalist/guitarist David Perkins, bassist Brad Jones and drummer Bill Meeks, Veehr surfaced in early 2003, bringing their straightforward, in-your-face style of rock music to life. The band fused together with over ten years of combined performance experience and an unlikely combination of musical backgrounds that range in style from metal to alt/rock. In doing so, Veehr has definitely found the formula for a style of rock music that makes people stop, listen and take notice. "We all came from previous bands with quite diverse styles," Perkins notes, "all of us felt that the bands we were in lacked that true dedication and reasoning for playing music. We all hooked up in 2003 and within one month of playing together, the music and songwriting just began to flow and the outcome was, and still is, something that continues to exceed our expectations."
The band's outlook on life itself is but one of the factors that motivate each member to give everything they have for their love of music. "None of us can see ourselves doing anything other than playing music for a living,” says Perkins. "Life's too short and you only live once, so we started dedicating all of our time, efforts, you name it, to creating and performing our music. Each member's level of devotion is the same. I think that's why we work so well together. We all know what we want as a band and are willing to give, sacrifice and work hard to achieve our goals."
The drive, dedication and passion of Veehr also pours over into both the heart-felt lyrics delivered by Perkins, and the powerful, high-energy live shows that are quickly establishing Veehr as one of the best new live acts around. "There's nothing more exciting and fulfilling than looking out into the crowd and seeing people singing your songs along with you," Perkins states. "Knowing that people are relating to what you are singing and seeing the music touch them just pushes us all to go out and put everything we have into every live show."
In the relatively short time Veehr has existed, they have garnered a tremendous buzz among critics, while at the same time gaining a loyal fan base. These factors are set to plant Veehr's stake firmly into the ground of the rock music scene for many years to come. Says Perkins, "We've been very fortunate and made many fans and friends along the way. We hope to make many more, whether it is one by one, or by the thousands. After all, we couldn't do this without them. We feel that the story of Veehr is still being written and we're excited about the future and everything that is to come."
