A unique blend of genres including funk, reggae, pop/rock, roots, jazz and world music, that is fresh and full of energy and will no doubt make you dance and feel alive!
The FEEVA evolved through a group of surfing friends hanging out, jamming and writing songs that celebrate the free spirited life that exists in their home town of Margaret River, tucked away in the lush southern corner of Western Australia. Fuelled by their love of groovy funk, reggae, acid jazz, rock, roots, house and world music, BEEVA FEEVA have created a dynamic new feel that many have described as People Music real, fresh and uncomplicated songs to make you dance and feel alive.
Recorded with a single magical microphone in their forest clad practice room, the crew released their Get the Feeva Ep in March 2005. 500 copies soon sold out at gigs and the local music store. This was followed soon after by a Live CD of a Salmonella Dub support gig, that recorded an amazing performance to a 1000 euphoric dancers in a moonlit vineyard. Again the CDs were a sell out and with a support slot next to The Cat Empire/Gomez/ Living End at The Masters Concert not long after, it become clear to these Down South cruisers that The Feeva really was spreading!
The band regrouped in November 05 after various winter escapes to surf spots around the globe and hard work began on new tunes and new visions. Playing everything from underground parties, pub shows, to circus big tents and major festivals, it has been a non stop growth in popularity for the band. Word of their reputation spread afar as South Africa, which resulted in them being invited to two of the countries largest music festivals and interest from record label Sheer Sound.
After being awarded with an Arts WA grant to fund the South African tour, The Feeva headed overseas and played their first show at the Billabong Pro in Jefferys Bay. Their performance was a huge success, but it was to be their last as BEEVA FEEVA. After discussions with record people and publicists, it was found that people did not have the same affection for Canadian fury animals as they did, so they changed the Beeva to Veeva and hence VEEVA FEEVA was born. But it was soon evident that The Feeva was nothing without the Beeva and after fans wishes the BEEVA was returned and the VEEVA dumped!
Recorded with Sean OCallaghan at Studio Couch (John Butler Trio, Gyroscope, Jebadiah) in Fremantle, Western Australia, BEEVA FEEVA are getting ready to unleash their hot debut album, Get The Feeva in 2007, with an EP release expected in early 2007. Check www.veevafeeva.com for updates.
