Eclectic, indeed. If it's good, I'll listen to it. I prefer alternative and I still enjoy the music of the 80s. Funk is a big deal in my house...because I love to dance. It's safe to say, the only music I don't eagerly seek out is country.
Off the top of my head my long-time favorites have been The Ramones, The Who, Nat King Cole (mom's influence), Bob Marley, Parliament, Psychedelic Furs (taught Richard Butler how to bowl while hanging at the Bronco Bowl), U2, any world music involving lots of drums, BB King, Johnny Lee Hooker, Bonnie Raitt (I admit it!), Ani Difranco, The Clash, Sex Pistols, James Taylor, Harry Connick Jr., Lenny Kravitz, The Doors, Jimmy Hendrix, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Melissa Etheridge, AC/DC...the list goes on and on. I can't decide if I'm truly eclectic in my tastes or if I'm a musical Sybil.
However, no commercial music can top the feeling I get while listening to my friends play their own instruments and sing in their own voices, just out of the sheer pleasure of being together.Movies
