About me:

The Vegetarians in Pitt County is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a friendly atmosphere to share vegetarian food and good company while creating public awareness of the health, ecological, and ethical benefits of vegetarianism.

VEGETARIAN DESSERT MADNESS
Sunday, July 20th, 5-7 PM
Unitarian Universalist Congregation
131 Oakmont Dr., Greenville
Come indulge with us at a scrumptious dessert buffet. A spaghetti and salad dinner will be provided. Bring a dessert to share with everyone.
Please note: Gelatin is not vegetarian. You will need to let others know whether or not your dessert contains dairy products or eggs or honey, since a few of our members are vegans and eat no animal products at all. Many desserts can be made vegan by replacing cow's milk with soymilk and butter with vegan margerine or oil. Most margerines contain dairy products, but two that do not are: Fleischmann's UNSALTED Margerine (at Harris Teeter) and Earth Balance (at Oakmont Health Food Store).Also, milk chocolate and some semi-sweet contains dairy. Ghirardelli semi-sweet chips are vegan (Harris Teeter). Replacing eggs is more complicated. Sometimes mashed tofu, mashed banana, Ener-G Egg Replacer (Oakmont), or ground flax seeds with water will work. But some baked goods will not rise properly. You will need to experiment. Also, many vegan dessert recipes can be found by searching the web.
