Velocity Recordings are hungry for new sounds and mad bastards rather than old B-sides and dull guitar drones. It's a new concept in indie. It could catch on. NME

Velocity Recordings is a record label that might be currently small in funds but has a huge passionate pumping heart. A record label that has put out great music, and will always put out great music. We have not released a bad record and we are not going to start now.

We care far too much. We are music fans and will always be. We believe in rock and roll. We believe in dreams coming true. We believe in you. We believe in magic. We know that anything is possible. We are living the dream.

Out of sheer boredom and frustration the record label was born late 2000, also the SugarComa demo came via the post and blew our ears off. Our first release was their classic debut single offering Blisters. It blew up- was it going to be this easy? It was awarded single of the week by Kerrang! and Melody Maker. Rave reviews from wide ranging publications such as Music Week to Terroriser. World radio play followed.

It did very, very well and the band moved over to Zomba/Music For Nations. Is it that easy? Sometimes yes-other times no. That is half the fun. It is an adventure putting out records-you never know what is going to happen. Is Blisters our best release to date? Probably notall our releases are excellent.

Club Velocity presents. A seriously tasty gig! Come all come one!!Bring your Auntie.

Date June 14th Saturday 2008 Venue Plugnplay 35 Milford Road Reading RG1 www.plugnplay.tvDoors 8pm to 2am Price £5 on the door £4 on the door /advance www.wegottickets.com

TRIPWIRES The four piece actually started out as far back as 2002. They were all about 12. They are still all under 19. They are now not only one of the best forward thinking local bands around, they should be easily the next local band to step up to the next level. This is a band that you would be (very) stupid to miss.

"Think Biffy Clyro meets Cooper Temple Clause. Compelling British Rock, " Designer Magazine www.myspace.com/tripwires

MR FOGG A rare live outing by local electronic pop genius. Mr Fogg is rated by a who whos in the world of UK media. He has done numerous live sessions for everyone from Janice Long to Tom Robinson. Live he seriously rocks, as he employs a live band that consists of ex members of Libor Spacek and current members of Pure Reason Revolution.

"Ace,ace,ace," Huw Stephens

www.myspace.com/mrfoggisapopstar

THE WOOKIES They used to a tad too progressive rock. You know the sort of band who think growing a wacky beard is cool or wearing sandals. They have been hanging out with ex members of Wire and listening to Slayer. This makes them a far more exciting and sexy prospect of a musical adventure. They sing about hospitals and animals and hose pipe bans. Crazy kids. "They play jazz-infected indie pop and they are here to save the world with some of the oddest pop songs ever," Josaka

www.myspace.com/thewookiesuk

THE STORM EXPLOSION The Storm Explosion number four, they remind us of the long long lost mighty God Machine. If you dig Godspeed, Explosions In The Sky, Mogwai and Richard Ashcroft as a singer then they could quite (easily) by your favourite new band. This is their debut gig.! Turn up early.www.myspace.com/thestormexplosion

The Power of the Internet

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7429638.stm

This was the biggest flash mob in history and shows the power of the internet as never before. Its a shame that it seems some people got hurt and property damaged, but overall I think this is an example of how people can come together through the internet, which is a good thing surely.

Oh, and well done to Doris for bringing in the ban on a Saturday night.
