I'm a guitarist but I have always used electronics and strange devices to make my guitar sound unusual, and loop delays and computers to construct unusual pieces of solo music. On several of the pieces on this page, I've used granular synthesis to tweak, transubstantiate, transmogrify musical sounds and field recordings.

Vortex Conga
Recorded in 1999, forgotten, and recently rediscovered. The conga pattern comes from an ancient Emax sampler, the bass was played on a guitar synthesizer and looped with the congas on top of a bed of ambient guitar loops. The guitar solo is in a heptatone mixed scale, at least this is what Raul Bonell said, I don't really know what I was doing here technically, but it was played in the spirit of the immortal Jon Hassell, so it is accompanied by an image of the equally immortal Mati Klarwein

Hallo Veloopity. Ich verstehe Deinen Ansatz zutiefst. Ich höre auch all die Versatzstücke in Deiner Arbeit. Fripp, Eno, California Guitar Trio, Can - whatever.. particles of the personal history ..Dein Spiel in und mit der Sprache, die Wortfindungen wie "soundscientist", conceptart vielleicht, ein Suchen und Finden, Beschreiben in Ton und Bild, Spiel- und Experimentierfreude, Aufgeschlossenheit und doch allein.. all das wird von mir schnell assoziiert. Intelligenz und ein sensitives Bewußtsein an der Schnittstelle zwischen denken und Wahrnehmung von Schwingung ist schnell ausgemacht. Immer auch suchend und schon gleichsam beschreibend..aber auch versackend, 'kolportierend' (Koll-/Report-age).. über das von mir wahrgenommene Überfrippertronisierende könnte man streiten.. wie über das Für und Wider von Soundflächen im Delaywellengang treibend mehr als Kursbestimmend. Anyway. So viele Assoziationen bei mir so schnell auszulösen ist doch auch etwas, nicht wahr? VeloCity wäre auch ein schoner Name gewesen. *war nur aus Spaß* Mit jemandem wie Dir würde ich mich gern mal unterhalten :-) Was eine Frau aus Italien und ich in einem Projekt so betreiben, kannst du ja mal rüberklicken. ciao erst mal. Die "Versuchsanordnung" hat sich ihr eigenes Festival experimenteller Musik organisiert: Am 5.9.2008 spielen wir im Kunsthaus Rhenania/Köln.

(Im Rahmen des monatlichen "Instant Music Clubs" haben wir dazu einen eigenen Zusatztermin bekommen, der statt dem normalen 1.Samstag im Monat, nun am Freitag statt findet.)

Eingeladen haben wir dazu eine japanische 2-Mann-Band ( Sub-te.), die ein ähnlich grosses stilistisches Spektrum bedienen. "Sub-tle." haben grade ein weiteres Album weltweit released Sub-tle schreiben eigene Stücke, führen experimentelle Musik auf Kunst-Festivals auf, vertonen Kunst-Installationen, machen Filmmusik ... und und und... So gesehen – der ideale Teampartner für die Versuchsanordnung! Wir haben uns ganz bewusst eine solche Band gewählt.

Als weiterer Programmpunkt seitens des Kunsthaus Rhenania steht mittlerweile fest: "Kessler-Linke-Muth" Ein Trio, bestehend aus bekannten Kölner Musikern : Thomas Kessler (keyboard), Reiner Linke (drums), Ole Muth (bass).
Man darf gespannt sein, da alle Formationen einen vollkommen unterschiedlichen Ansatz haben.
