The members of Velvet Cotorro have been attempting to make music together since 1999, at the School of Arts of Perú. Starting 2004 they named themselves “Velvet Cotorro”, being equally influenced by the Velvet Underground and the fast food roasted chicken El Cotorro at Ave. Benavides in Lima. The Velvets Cotorros are more plastic artists than musicians, given none of them understands basic musical theory. Due to this lack, their music is experimental. Each theme of Velvet Cotorro is born at the moment. There is no pre-planning, only the understanding established between its members. In the band all members can play any instrument, and on occasions unconventional instruments. The Velvet Cotorro are: Albert García (guitar, bass, and some drums); Alonso Núñez del Prado (guitar, drums, vocals, and some bass); Felipe Morey (drums, vocals, guitar and some bass); Eriván Phumpiú (bass, guitar, vocals and some drums).
Albert García ( guitarra, bajo y a veces batería).
Alonso Núñez del Prado ( guitarra, batería, voz y a veces bajo).
Felipe Morey ( batería, voz, guitarra y a veces bajo).
Eriván Phumpiú ( bajo, guitarra, voz y a veces batería).
Sandra Arellano (guitarra y a veces teclado).

Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.

What’s Crackin’ VELVET COTORRO ? We’re hitting back our myspace folks to let you know that your prayers have been answered. What prayers, you may ask. Well, today my friends, the good reptiles over at Bossasaurus (namely the ones writing this message) have teamed up with Murs (Living Legends, Def Jux, 9th Wonder, etc.) to, for the first time ever, offer you a taste of our music with an emcee over them. If you hate emcees and were feeling the tranquility of our un-defiled instrumental works than we sincerely apologize for our critical error in judgment. Otherwise come on over and check out:
We hope you enjoy it. If you don't come thru and talk that sweet smack.
Saludos muchachos!
