VT_SouthboundandDown_Cover_5x5_300dpi_RGB_REV1_zps7835d1d4 It's OFFICIAL! Velvet Truckstop's new album, "Southbound and Down," is making its way to the masses. Produced by legend, Johnny Sandlin, "Southbound and Down" captures the Truckstop in fine form as the band delves into their best studio effort yet. The album also features two songs by Grammy Award winner, Randall Bramblett.

Combining elements of Southern Rock, Blues and Americana, "Southbound and Down" features a compilation of original songs showcasing the ever-evolving sound of Velvet Truckstop. Known for their soul-infused Carolina Rock & Roll, the Truckstop takes a step back and tips their hat to a more Alternative Country sound with "Here Today, Gone Tomorrow" and "Cadillac Souls."

Sandlin's influence (Widespread Panic, Derek Trucks Band, Allman Brothers Band) can be heard clearly with the rockin' "Water In The Well." Swirling guitars, thick backing vocals and a powerful rhythm section give a depth to not only this track, but throughout the album. Although their sound has evolved with time, the true grit and power of the Truckstop remains.

Velvet Truckstop’s last album, “Sweet Release” is of timeless caliber; filled with songs that illuminate the phenomenon of great music and illustrates the emotional tapestry of human experience in the new tradition of soul-infused Carolina Rock & Roll. “Sweet Release” is brand new compilation of original songs by Velvet Truckstop that focuses on the growth of this young group.
