venna is the music of heather and her husband marky. it is the sort of music that focuses on the simplicity of life, and the fragility of being human. so far it's comprised of a couple of guitars and a few voices. more should be expected.
Here's what people are saying about us...
"....as pretty as the packaging is, the songs are even better." "...humanly imperfect and honest music made by real people who love what they do." from Can You See The Sunset From The Southside
"...showcases intimate acoustic folk instrumentation and breathy, emotive female vocals... the simple combination of guitar and undeniable vocal talent, with an open-mic coffeeshop vibe." from the Illinois Entertainer.
"As Heather sang the chorus of "Eulogy", “here are my hands”, I realized that this was her offering to the world... Crafted with care, this is an exciting debut from Heather and Marky’s hands to yours." from Chicago blog Gapers Block.
"They boast impeccably written acoustic folk/pop songwriting as well as comfortably beautiful vocals... a surprising and wonderful mixture of intriguing folk songwriting and gorgeous female vocals." a review of the new EP by Independent Clauses.
"The band exists simply, sweetly and just does what it does well. No pretension, nothing artistically laborious or ambitious, just performing songs and performing them well." Louis Korom IV's Blog
UGH! I JUST remembered that you guys were playing at the walworth county fair, so I came to see when, only to find that you are playing right now. I was really excited for a show that I could bring a baby to. And now I missed it. I am sad.
I have not checked my space in such a looonnnggg time and just got your message of "things going okay." Thanks! Yes, they are. It was nice seeing you guys for a hot minute at Reggies the other night. Hopefully we can make our internet friendship and more actual one at some point. You guys should come stay in Chi-town for a couple days.
Yeah. We had some band bs come through and I'm pretty sure I may commit musiciancide. 50% of Proximo quit on Grant and the drummer, Nick. Waked away like no big thing. Kinda sucks but Grant's doing pretty good...
...but if you're in need of some awesome background vocals...let him know. :)
Hey guys, how are you? I’ve been collaborating with a local coffee shop in Fox Lake, Beva Caffe! Coffee Bar, and starting in May there’s going to be some fun stuff happening. (Address can be found on my Myspace). I’ll be hosting an Acoustic Talent Night, which will be similar to an open mic night, and I’m looking for acoustic acts that are interested in playing!
It will be every Saturday in May and June, from 7-9:30pm. If you or a friend is interested, just let me know ahead of time to secure a spot, because the coffee shop is asking me to promote it and make sure that all music will be appreciated by all types of audiences. Set times will probably run about 10 minutes, or 2 or 3 songs, and I’ll also have my piano there.
I hope you’ll be able to come! Just give me the word if you’re interested in performing and I’ll help set it up for you to be able to play for an upcoming Saturday.
Thanks so much! Feel free to message me with any questions.

Hey everyone! For those of you who don't know my dad recently found out that he has a grade 4 astrocytoma brain tumor, a very aggressive form of cancer. He had the tumor removed in early March and the surgeon got 100% of it! PRAISE GOD! He will be starting some intense treatments this Thursday. He is improving everyday and is fighting with all his might! I know alot of people have been praying and I want to thank you all for that from the bottom of my heart. He will continue to need prayers during the rest of his fight. He is a big fighter and I know he will win this battle with God's help.
