About Ventolin

In de winter van 2007 ziet Ventolin het levenslicht. ‘Ventolin’, wie denkt dat het hier om cara medicament zit er naast. Alle drie de leden gaan namelijk gebukt onder een chronisch zuurstof gebrek. Een naam voor de band was dan ook niet zo moeilijk toen ze elkaar tegen kwamen bij de apotheker. Aldus de band zelf.

Na één jaar door gebracht te hebben in de repetitie ruimte besloot de band hun in één dag opgenomen cd te releasen op Internet en niet geheel zonder succes. “We zijn overspoeld met leuke reacties!” aldus Albert Klein Boonschate drummer van Ventolin. De band ontving lovende kritieken op de site garageband.com en werd daarmee 9 sep 07 ‘Band of the Day’. Daarnaast ontving de band een award als ‘Best Melody in Alternative Rock’ en deed Ventolin 4 juli j.l. haar debuut optreden op 3fm in de show van Sander Guis.

Eindeloze jamsessies en de drang om het anders te doen dan de gemiddelde band heeft de band een jaar bezig gehouden. “We willen graag dat het goed is en wat betekend. Dit heeft geresulteerd in een aantal nummers waarvan er een viertal te beluisteren zijn op onze debuut cd Inhalor.” Aldus Hans van der Kleij zanger en gitarist van Ventolin.

Om de energie en de enthousiaste te vangen is de cd 'Inhalor' in de zomer van 2007 in één middag live opgenomen. “Dit heeft geresulteerd in een viertal nummers die wat ons betreft zeker de moeite waard zijn geworden.” Aldus Hans. Albert: “We hopen dat mensen onze muziek leuk vinden en waarderen. Hopelijk is onze lange eenzame muzikale opsluiting dan niet voor niets geweest.”

Beïnvloed door bands als Sonic Youth, Led-Zeppelin en Black Sabbath schrijft Ventolin haar nummers. Dit resulteert in aanstekelijk en stevige alternatieve indie/garage pop. Een live performance van Ventolin is dan zowel intens als die van Sonic Youth en rockt als die van Black Sabbath en Led Zeppelin.
