Hello. Ventriloquist's the name, music and words are my game. Depending what side of bed I get out of I can be any of the following; poet, musician, composer, producer, promoter, record label boss (albeit a little one!), cook, crook or cat lover. My creations are now also group creations courtesy of The Ventriloquist Band - a slippery fusion of weird stories, soulful songs and broken beats. I hope you like 'em. The Ventriloquist Band is a malleable melange of marvelous melodies and mesmerising musical madness..(sorry, got stuck on the Ms there). It varies in size from a four piece to a nine piece with singing, speaking, horns, guitar, keys, drums, bass and backing singers - the whole shebang. Other projects featuring players from the Ventriloquist Band include Nostalgia 77, Heritage Orchestra, Bonobo, Ed Harcourt's band and new jazz label Impossible Ark.
I run an indie label called Soundseasy with Rory Thomson (Corsair/Lux Fero).
- check our myspace.com/soundseasy page.
You can buy Ventriloquist music from iTunes, Napster and all the usual places.
You can now also buy Ventriloquist CDs direct from The Poetry Book Society website.. http://www.poetrybookshoponline.com/sblast/
From the 12th May 2008 we're giving away the new Ventriloquist track I Know Kung Fu. We've got some great alternate versions too from Ghost (formerly of DFXO) and Musa from PIP/Benin City which you can also help yourself to.
We also run a monthly residency at The Betsey Trotwood in Farringdon, London called Tongue Fu with guest poets and live music from members of the band.
Thanks for dropping by. If you'd like more info please send me your email address and I'll add you the Ventriloquist mailing list.
