Before she married Jack White and became a rock-star wife, the auburn-haired British singer and model Karen Elson was already rocking Vogue with her otherworldly glow and once-shaved eyebrows. So while news of the local glamazon opening her own boutique on Belmont Boulevard with former Venus & Mars vintage-store owner Amy Patterson seemed like a logical enterprise for Elson, it's still setting local and international fashionista brains atwitter. Calling Nashville's fashion treasures "gold untouched," Elson and Patterson promise to host the duds of some of Nashville's grand old dames with a mix of haute couture and affordable vintage. Venus and Mars - The Showroom came about in early 2008 when Amy Patterson and Karen Elson joined forces in Nashville, TN to open a store ranging from high end rare vintage garments and adornments to cheap and cheerful vintage dress and jewels. Amy Paterson’s original Venus and Mars store - named by GQ Magazine as “one of the best clothing stores in America” in 2006 & 2007 - was shuttered earlier this year in preparation for the new venture. With a new location, ethos and range of merchandise Venus And Mars- The Showroom is an exciting, world-class boutique with enough variety to appeal to a wide demographic of fashion-lovers. Says Karen Elson, “The aim of the store is to encourage shoppers to think that vintage isn't just an old hand-me-down but a one-of-kind garment with a wonderful history.”
Venus and Mars – The Showroom carries both men and women’s fashions. Their vintage items will be re-worked & re-conditioned and customizing tailoring will be available.
